UFC Fight Night 106 Draws 946,000 Viewers to Fox Sports 1
Despite featuring some decent star power on the main card, UFC Fight Night 106 did not surpass some of the promotion’s recent offerings on Fox Sports 1.
According to
Sports TV Ratings, this past Saturday’s card in Fortaleza,
Brazil, attracted an average audience of 946,000 to FS1. The card
was headlined by a middleweight showdown between Kelvin
Gastelum and Vitor
Belfort, which Gastelum won via first-round technical knockout.
Additionally, former light heavyweight champion and Pride superstar
Mauricio
Rua earned a third-round stoppage of Gian
Villante in the co-main event, while Edson
Barboza scored a “Knockout of the Year” candidate against
Beneil
Dariush in another featured bout.
The main card ratings were better than those for UFC Fight Night 105, which was headlined by a heavyweight clash between Derrick Lewis and Travis Browne and drew 907,000 viewers to FS1. However, both UFC Fight Night 104 (1.158 million viewers) and UFC Fight Night 103 (1.090 million) drew larger audiences. UFC Fight Night 104, the promotion’s traditional Super Bowl weekend card, was topped by a featherweight tilt between Chang Sung Jung and Dennis Bermudez, while UFC Fight Night 103 featured a clash between Yair Rodriguez and B.J. Penn.
Meanwhile, the UFC Fight Night 106 preliminary card, which also aired on FS1, attracted 860,000 viewers to the network. That portion of the card featured a lightweight duel pitting Kevin Lee against Francisco Trinaldo. Lee submitted Trinaldo via rear-naked choke in the second round.
The UFC Fight Night 106 main card drew 531,000 viewers in the 18-to-49 demographic, while the preliminary card drew 379,000 viewers in that area.
