Hector Sandoval vs. Matt Schnell

Round 1

The flyweight trade low kicks in the opening minute before Sandoval grabs hold of Schnell's leg and tries to run him to the ground. Schnell stays standing and the 125ers stay in the pocket, exchanging close-range punches in a wild flurry of fists. Schnell throws a wild jump knee and gets taken down momentarily; as he stands, "Danger" tries to snare Sandoval in a guillotine, but the fighters separate before the choke is set. Sandoval bombs over the top with a right hand, steps in behind it and takes Schnell to the floor. Schnell throws up an armbar and works back to his feet, now inside the final two minutes of round one. Schnell looks to throw knees in a Thai clinch but can't get anything going. Sandoval grabs hold of another kick and tries for another takedown, but Schnell traps him in a deep arm-in guillotine. Sandoval slams his way free and winds up on top, in Schnell's guard. Schnell swings his legs around to try an armbar, but Sandoval stacks him up and knocks him out cold with three or four quick hammerfists to the jaw.

The Official Result

Hector Sandoval def. Matt Schnell via KO (Punches) R1 4:24

Bryan Barberena vs. Joe Proctor

Round 1

After a lengthy feeling-out period in which the welterweights trade leg and body kicks, Barberena counters a Proctor attack with a slick right hand. The punch looks to have emboldened "Bam Bam," who now throws his hands up and calls for Proctor to engage in a striking exchange. Barberena backs up Proctor to the fence, pops the Joe Lauzon pupil with another right hand and then attacks with clinch knees. Proctor goes down after a few knees, and Barberena polishes him off with ground-and-pound, forcing referee Dan Miragliotta to intervene.

The Official Result

Bryan Barberena def. Joe Proctor via TKO (Punches and Knees) R1 3:30

Cindy Dandois vs. Alexis Davis

Round 1

Dandois looks stiff as she tries to trade punches with Davis, and the Canadian slips a few right hands through as she backs up the "Battlecat" to the fence. Dandois shoots an awkward takedown but manages to trip Davis to the mat near the center of the cage. Davis wraps up the Belgian in closed guard as the action slows on the ground. Davis locks down the right arm of Dandois and pivots her hips to try an armbar; she manages to roll Dandois onto her back, but Dandois catches Davis' head in a triangle and holds the Canadian in place until she can free the limb. Davis abandons the submission and steps over to full mount; she drops a few punches before Dandois drops back to threaten with a heel hook, forcing Davis to stand. Davis kneels down atop Dandois, their legs entangled, and now it's the "Ally-gator" attempting a heel hook of her own as the round ends.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Davis
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Davis
Mike Sloan scores the round 10-9 Davis

Round 2

The bantamweights keep the fight standing for longer at the start of round two, and it's Davis controlling the action with tighter, more accurate punches, while Dandois flails with counters. Dandois shoots in to try a takedown, can't get it and winds up clinching with Davis on the fence, looking for a head-and-arm throw. Davis pulls free and the 135ers are back to striking with three minutes on the clock. Dandois steps inside to try a trip, but it's easily snuffed out by Davis. The next trip attempt from Dandois brings both women to the ground, and Davis reverses to take top position in the scramble. Davis allows Dandois to stand and then resumes firing punches at the Belgian. Dandois comes back for another takedown attempt in the final minute, and this time she manages to put Davis on her back. Davis hunts for an armbar from the bottom as the round ends.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Davis
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Davis
Mike Sloan scores the round 10-9 Davis

Round 3

Dandois shoots and completes an early takedown in the center of the cage, but it's Davis being the busier fighter on the mat, throwing punches and looking for armbar opportunities from the bottom while Dandois buries her head. Davis pushes Dandois away and scrambles back to her feet, lands a jab or two and then gets pressed against the cage by Dandois again. Dandois hits the same head-and-arm throw, looks to get something going from scarf-hold position but can't make anything materialize before Davis escapes to her feet. Inside the final two minutes of the bout, and the bantamweights are back to striking. Davis presses forward with low kicks and jabs, keeping Dandois on her back foot. Dandois reverses course and lands a slow-motion double-leg, planting Davis on her back as they enter the final 60 seconds. Davis catches Dandois in a tight triangle-armbar, but Dandois sits up and relieves pressure on her neck, allowing her to ride out the sub attempt until the final horn.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Davis (30-27 Davis)
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Davis (30-27 Davis)
Mike Sloan scores the round 10-9 Dandois (29-28 Davis)

The Official Result

Alexis Davis def. Cindy Dandois via Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) R3 5:00

Jessica Penne vs. Danielle Taylor

Round 1

Penne stands in the center of the cage and uses long kicks to keep the shorter Taylor on the outside. Taylor cuts angles around the outside and tries a few times to explode forward with an overhand right, but it's the leg kicks of Taylor connecting on Penne early. Taylor slugs Penne with a left hand on the end of a combination, resets and catches Penne with another left, this time countering a telegraphed kick. Halfway through the round, Penne continues to come forward but is having trouble catching up with the speedier Taylor to land strikes. Taylor bounces a combination off Penne's arms, but moments later, the Californian catches a kick and cracks Penne with a right hand over the top.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Penne
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Taylor
Mike Sloan scores the round 10-9 Taylor

Round 2

The fighters are going strike-for-strike in the opening minute of the round, trading punches in the pocket with Penne mixing in a body kick, too. Taylor looks to be landing the harder punches, but her roll is slowed when Penne snares her in a Thai clinch to deliver a few knees inside. Penne gets the clinch again, hits Taylor with another pair of knees, then separates and swipes a hook across the face of "Dynamite." Down to the final minute of the round, Taylor hits Penne with a body-head combo, circles off and catches the taller woman with reaching left hand. Another left hand to the jaw gets Penne stumbling, but just before time runs out, Penne catches Taylor in the Thai plum and hurls a few knees into her breadbasket.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Penne
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Penne
Mike Sloan scores the round 10-9 Penne

Round 3

Penne follows Taylor around the edge of the cage, touches her with a few long jabs but fails on her first takedown attempt of the round. Taylor bursts out to the center with a lunging right hand, tries to repeat the sequence but this time gets caught by Penne with a hard knee to the gut. Penne lands another knee, now a right hand before she shoots and takes Taylor to the mat near the fence. Taylor is back on her feet within seconds, Penne still wrapped around her waist, looking to put her weight on Taylor and pull her back to the floor. Taylor does well to keep her balance, and now she separates from Penne with two minutes on the clock. The action slows as Penne seems content to spend a minute controlling the center of the cage, just following Taylor around the outside. A straight right hand splits the gloves of Taylor, who retaliates with a right of her own. Penne answers with a pair of punches, now a few kicks to the body; she tries to catch hold of Taylor's next kick but can't convert it into anything. Penne wraps up Taylor once more and trips her to the ground just before the final horn sounds.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Taylor (29-28 Penne)
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Penne (29-28 Penne)
Mike Sloan scores the round 10-9 Penne (29-28 Penne)

The Official Result

Danielle Taylor def. Jessica Penne via Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) R3 5:00

Scott Holtzman vs. Michael McBride

Round 1

Holtzman places a reaching left hand on the jaw of McBride, who seems unfazed by the strike and works to keep the wrestler on the outside with a few long kicks. Holtzman pushes his way inside anyway, now jams McBride up against the fence and works to take him to the ground with a rear waistlock. McBride threatens with a kimura as he's taken to the mat, switches to an armbar but loses it, and now Holtzman wants the submission specialist back on his feet. Holtzman works the lead leg of McBride with some hard kicks, then knocks him to the deck with another left hook to the jaw. The next kick from Holtzman lands shin-to-cup on McBride's groin, and McBride will need a minute to recover from the hard but unintentional foul. They resume with half the round remaining, and Holtzman begins mixing up his punches to McBride's body and head. McBride tries some spinning strikes, can't land anything clean, but finds success with a late takedown. Holtzman thwarts a back-take and escapes out the back door to take top position, but McBride sweeps him back and finishes the round on top, working for a kimura.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Holtzman
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Holtzman
Mike Sloan scores the round 10-9 Holtzman

Round 2

Holtzman lands a right hand to the body and a left to the jaw, and his next punch knocks out the mouthpiece of McBride, causing referee Herb Dean to pause the action. As soon as the fight resumes, Holtzman comes swinging at his opponent with another overhand right. Holtzman slams McBride with a standing elbow strike, prompting McBride to dive to the ground, trying to instigate a scramble. Holtzman doesn't want to play with the jiu-jitsu stylist on the ground, and the lightweights come back to their feet. Holtzman catches a kick for a takedown in the center of the cage, but McBride goes willingly and attacks the wrestler's legs as they hit the floor. Holtzman turns his back and stands to escape a calf slicer, but as he does, McBride follows him to his feet and tries to take the back. Holtzman spins around and forces McBride to the canvas, and now it's Holtzman on top with just about two minutes on the clock. Holtzman peppers McBride with ground-and-pound before standing with 60 seconds remaining and asking the ref to bring McBride back up as well. McBride dives for a takedown, and when he doesn't get it, flops to guard instead. Holtzman stands over his prone opponent for the final 30 seconds and finishes the round dropping some right hands on McBride's face.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Holtzman
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Holtzman
Mike Sloan scores the round 10-9 Holtzman

Round 3

Holtzman comes straight out and tags McBride with an overhand right, then resets and zaps the visitor with a combination. The next punch sends McBride dropping to guard again; Holtzman stands over him for a few seconds, kicking at his legs, before the ref tells McBride to stand again. Holtzman is slowing down here in the middle part of the round, his kicks and punches looking a bit more labored. Nonetheless, he continues to outwork McBride, who is largely defensive and working off his back foot. Holtzman comes inside with his hands down and eats an uppercut from McBride, so "Hot Sauce" changes levels and floors McBride with a takedown at the fence. McBride grabs hold of a kimura but loses his leverage as Holtzman passes to side control. Holtzman stands over McBride in the final moments of the fight, kicking at his legs, before kneeling down to deliver a final few punches.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-8 Holtzman (30-26 Holtzman)
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-8 Holtzman (30-26 Holtzman)
Mike Sloan scores the round 10-9 Holtzman (30-27 Holtzman)

The Official Result

Scott Holtzman def. Michael McBride via Unanimous Decision (30-26, 30-27, 30-27) R3 5:00

Brandon Moreno vs. Dustin Ortiz

Round 1

Ortiz digs an underhook and quickly hustles Moreno against the fence, then drops to work for a single-leg takedown. Moreno works a kimura on Ortiz's left arm, then uses it to work back to his feet when Ortiz finally completes the takedown. Ortiz stays glued to Moreno, drags him back to the floor and now tries to take the Mexican fighter's back. They stay in the clinch until the midway point of the round, when Moreno breaks away and circles back to the center. Moreno lands a body kick but leaves himself open for another Ortiz shot and takedown. Moreno gets back on his feet with 90 seconds on the clock but is quickly pulled back to the floor. Another kimura attempt from Moreno, and this time it lands him a sweep straight to full mount. Ortiz bucks him off and the flyweights stand to clinch on the fence in the final seconds of the round.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Ortiz
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Ortiz
Mike Sloan scores the round 10-9 Ortiz

Round 2

Ortiz spends the first minute twitching and feinting in front of Moreno, seemingly waiting for an opening to step inside, but Moreno is doing well to fend him off with low kicks, uppercuts and hooks through the first minute of the round. Moreno starts to work his jab, now goes to the body with a left hook, but when Ortiz shoots a high double, he easily drives Moreno back to the ground at the foot of the fence. Ortiz looks to take the back, but Moreno escapes and scrambles up. Out of nowhere, Moreno floors Ortiz with a left high kick, but Ortiz wakes up and drops back to guard before Moreno can pound him out. Moreno jumps on Ortiz's back and attaches himself with a body triangle, then begins working for a rear-naked choke as they grapple at the base of the fence. Ortiz fights off the RNC on the first few attempts, but Moreno is relentless and eventually snakes an arm underneath Ortiz's chin. Ortiz tries to sit up and peel away Moreno's hands, but Moreno pulls him backward and squeezes until Ortiz goes out cold.

The Official Result

Brandon Moreno def. Dustin Ortiz via Technical Submission (Rear-Naked Choke) R2 4:06

Sam Alvey vs. Thales Leites

Round 1

Leites' first low kick nearly takes the lead leg out from underneath Alvey, who slides backward toward the fence as the Brazilian advances with range-finding punches. Alvey may be injured from the kick as he's moving very gingerly on his left leg and not throwing any punches. Leites stands just out of range, lobbing long punches at Alvey and mixing in the occasional low kick. One chop to the left leg draws a grimace from "Smile'n Sam." Alvey tries to lunge forward with a punch and then limps backward. The next right hand connects to the forehead of Leites, forcing the Brazilian to take a few steps back. Alvey tries to come forward in the final minute of the round, albeit slowly. The American is able to fend off Leites' first takedown attempt but can't do much else before time runs out.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Leites
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Leites
Mike Sloan scores the round 10-9 Leites

Round 2

A tense start to round two sees an impaired Alvey trying to push forward on Leites, who gets on his bike and slips the attacks while waiting to counter with kicks and punches of his own. Alvey gets some control of the fight with a brief clinch on the fence, but he's soon reversed by Leites, and the fighters separate with just about two minutes left in the round. Alvey plunges a right hand down the center that lands to the jaw of Leites and knocks the Brazilian off balance -- but when Alvey tries to capitalize on the connection, Leites wraps him up and trips him to the floor near the fence. Alvey posts and stands, but Leites continues to hang all over him. Alvey keeps his footing and stays standing as Leites tries to trip him up again.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Leites
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Leites
Mike Sloan scores the round 10-9 Leites

Round 3

Alvey comes straight forward at Leites, who backs up and looks to counter with an inside thigh kick. It's an inadvertant low blow to Alvey, who turns away in pain and does an awkward, hopping dance on his injured leg. Alvey recovers from the foul after just a few seconds and then comes back to chase Leites some more, landing a left hand and then snuffing out a takedown attempt. Leites lands a right high kick to the face and slips to the ground, but he's back up before Alvey can capitalize on the error. Alvey takes a poke to the left eye but doesn't want much time to recover from this foul either. The middleweights get back to business with half the round remaining, and once again it's Alvey chasing Leites around the outside. Leites eats a right hook from Alvey, grabs for a double-leg but can't find anything. Leites begins his backpedaling again, finally stopping with 20 seconds left to try a late single-leg takedown. Alvey defends it but finishes the fight being pressed against the cage by the Brazilian.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Alvey (29-28 Leites)
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Alvey (29-28 Leites)
Mike Sloan scores the round 10-9 Alvey (29-28 Leites)

The Official Result

Jake Ellenberger vs. Mike Perry

Round 1

Ellenberger catches the first low kick thrown his way and immediately drives Perry to the mat. Perry goes belly-down to escape and gets back on his feet about 30 seconds into the round. Perry uses his length to strike Ellenberger from range, jabbing at the Nebraskan and firing hard kicks to the body. Halfway through the round, it's Perry pressing forward, keeping Ellenberger on his back foot. Ellenberger waits for an opening and ducks inside to try a takedown, but Perry shoves him off and lands a knee to the body on the break. Perry bloodies the nose of Ellenberger with a punch and follows with a hard kick to the body; Ellenberger answers with a thudding body kick of his own.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Perry
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Perry
Mike Sloan scores the round 10-9 Perry

Round 2

Ellenberger plunges a left hand down the middle and follows with a right uppercut to the face of the leaning Perry, backing up "Platinum" a few steps. Perry steps inside with a left hook of his own, knocking Ellenberger to the deck; Ellenberger recovers quickly and climbs back to his feet, where Perry is waiting to clinch up. Perry unloads with a standing elbow strike in the clinch, and Ellenberger doesn't see it coming. The strike lands clean to the jaw and knocks Ellenberger out immediately, sending referee Josh Ward rushing in for the stoppage.

The Official Result

Mike Perry def. Jake Ellenberger via KO (Elbow) R2 1:05

Joe Lauzon vs. Stevie Ray

Round 1

Lauzon catches an early kick and hustles Ray to the ground near the fence, but the Scotsman posts and stands straight away. Lauzon keeps hold of Ray and drags him back to the mat via the clinch. Ray grabs for a heel hook and takes a hard elbow to the face as Lauzon stacks him up and frees the limb. Lauzon transitions to Ray's back, sinks both hooks and works for a rear-naked choke. The RNC doesn't materialize, so Lauzon moves to full mount and plants a few more elbows on Ray's face. Ray pushes the submission specialist back to butterfly guard, so Lauzon stands up to get more room to drop his right hands. Two minutes left in the round now, Lauzon remains heavy on top, keeping Ray glued to the ground. Ray rolls to one knee, tries to stand and is instantly pulled back down. Lauzon tries to trap the right arm of Ray for a crucifix, then abandons it to abuse Ray with heavy elbows in the closing seconds.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-8 Lauzon
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-8 Lauzon
Mike Sloan scores the round 10-8 Lauzon

Round 2

Ray keeps his distance from Lauzon in the opening minute of the round, throwing no kicks for Lauzon to grab hold of. "Braveheart" digs a left hand to the body and slides backward, forcing Lauzon to come forward. Ray shuts down Lauzon's first shot of the round, but the second try from "J-Lau" yields a takedown at the midway point of the round. Lauzon works slowly on top, working to pass Ray's guard, but the American's ground-and-pound attacks from the first frame have vanished. Lauzon tries to mount, but Ray elevates and tries to sneak out the back. Instead, Lauzon stands over him and drops a right hand on Ray's face. Ray drops back to try a toe hold or heel hook, countered by Lauzon with a loose leglock attempt of his own as time expires.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Ray
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Ray
Mike Sloan scores the round 10-9 Ray

Round 3

Lauzon comes forward on Ray in the opening minute of the final frame but has difficulty navigating through Ray's fresher punches to the head and body. "J-Lau" gets hold of a single-leg, but Ray sprawls and stays standing. Lauzon's next takedown try comes after a left hand turns Ray's head, but "Braveheart" backs up to the fence and stays standing. Lauzon drops to his knees as he struggles to complete the takedown, leaving his head open for Ray to elbow and punch. Lauzon finally takes Ray to the canvas midway through the round. Lauzon lands a few elbows on top, but Ray is equally busy from the bottom. Ray climbs back to his feet with 90 seconds left and attacks the suddenly exhausted Lauzon with knees in the clinch. Lauzon is on wobbly legs as Ray attacks with punches, slinging shots with both hands as the clock ticks down. Lauzon is just surviving in there, covering up with his back to the fence as Ray continues to punch away to the final horn.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-8 Ray (28-27 Ray)
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-8 Ray (28-27 Ray)
Mike Sloan scores the round 10-9 Ray (28-28 Draw)

The Official Result

Stevie Ray def. Joe Lauzon via Majority Decision (29-27, 28-27, 28-28) R3 5:00

John Dodson vs. Eddie Wineland

Round 1

The southpaw Dodson takes the center of the cage and lands a kick to the body of Wineland, who's flicking out long jabs to keep the shorter man on the outside. Two minutes in, neither flyweight has taken control of the round, both still testing the range and timing with punches and kicks. Dodson bursts forward and finishes a body-head combo with a nifty left hand on Wineland's chin. Dodson looks to clinch, but Wineland gets an overhook and pushes the "Magician" away. The measured striking continues down the stretch, with Dodson perhaps carving out a narrow advantage. It's Dodson who lands the hardest shot yet in the last 10 seconds of the frame, a left straight flush to the face of Wineland.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Dodson
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Dodson
Mike Sloan scores the round 10-9 Dodson

Round 2

The flyweights take turns moving forward, but neither man is really pressing the action even when they are on the advance. Dodson lets out a loud chuckle after an ineffective attack from Wineland. After another 30 seconds of circling and feinting, the Memphis crowd begins to boo. Dodson quiets the dissenters with a clean left hand and a left high kick that rocks Wineland's head. Dodson explodes forward with punches that bloody Wineland's nose and back up the former WEC champion to the fence momentarily. Wineland circles back to the middle and tries to work his jab, but Dodson is still staying out of striking range in between attacks.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Dodson
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Dodson
Mike Sloan scores the round 10-9 Dodson

Round 3

Wineland swings and misses with a right hand, eats a slick left-handed counter from Dodson, who slides out of range immediately after landing. Dodson eats a jab and tries to charge forward, but he's unable to catch up with the backpedaling Wineland this time. Dodson counters a straight right hand with three fast lefts, popping Wineland in the face and forcing him backward to the wall. The flyweights circle back to the center, now with two minutes remaining in the bout. Wineland catches a kick to the midsection but can't convert it into anything before Dodson yanks back the limb. Dodson is landing his left hand with increased frequency down the stretch, and now he puts a stomping front kick in Wineland's breadbasket.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Dodson (30-27 Dodson)
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Dodson (30-27 Dodson)
Mike Sloan scores the round 10-9 Dodson (30-27 Dodson)

Marcos Rogerio de Lima vs. Ovince St. Preux

Round 1

De Lima comes forward at the start of the bout, landing heavy kicks to the leg and body of the backpedaling southpaw St. Preux. More body kicks follow as the local Tennessee favorite St. Preux struggles to work his way inside on the Brazilian here in the early going. St. Preux gets through with a body kick, but "Pezao" tags him back with a pair of hard right hands to the face. De Lima continues to move forward, following St. Preux around the edge of the cage. A heavy left from de Lima sends St. Preux grabbing for a high double-leg, but the Brazilian easily defends the takedown attempt and shoves St. Preux to the ground.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 de Lima
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 de Lima
Mike Sloan scores the round 10-9 de Lima

Round 2

St. Preux catches a kick and trips de Lima to the ground in the first 20 seconds of the round. Jamming "Pezao" against the foot of the fence, St. Preux postures up and unloads with heavy elbows which immediately slice open the Brazilian underneath the left eye. De Lima grabs a headlock from the bottom, but St. Preux is in half guard and de Lima leaves himself open to the "Von Flue" shoulder choke. It looks as if de Lima's position at the base of the cage might save him from the choke, but St. Preux bears down on his opponent's throat and forces the tap.

The Official Result

Ovince St. Preux def. Marcos Rogerio de Lima via Submission (Shoulder Choke) R2 2:11

Al Iaquinta vs. Diego Sanchez

Round 1

Iaquinta slides backward and fires his right hand down the center to ward off southpaw Sanchez, who's constantly creeping forward in the opening minute of the bout. Iaquinta reverses the momentum and steps forward on Sanchez, backing up "The Nightmare" to the fence. A left hand from "Raging Al" gets Sanchez looking the wrong way, and Iaquinta follows up with a devastating right straight. A dazed Sanchez climbs back to his feet and grimaces as he staggers a few paces to his left. Iaquinta has his right hand loaded up the whole time, and he blasts Sanchez with another vicious punch that puts the veteran down for good. Al Iaquinta returns from a two-year absence to notch a devastating first-round knockout.

The Official Result

Al Iaquinta def. Diego Sanchez via KO (Punches) R1 1:38

Cub Swanson vs. Artem Lobov

Round 1

Referee Herb Dean is the third man in the cage for tonight's 145-pound main event, with judges Derek Cleary, Chris Lee and Jeff Mullen scoring the contest. Swanson ducks under Lobov's first attack and comes back up to clinch, delivering a few knees to the midsection of "The Russian Hammer" as they grapple against the fence. Lobov hooks a leg and completes a takedown at the wall, but Swanson won't stay on the ground for long, and the featherweights get back to striking in the center of the cage. Swanson sends a right hand down the center, follows with a body kick. Another right hand gets through for Swanson, who is using good head movement to avoid damage but takes a left-handed counter from Lobov on this occasion. Lobov starts throwing outside low kicks, nearly chopping out Swanson's left leg with one strike. Lobov goes to the body with a left hook, tries to advance with one aimed at Swanson's head, but the speedy Jackson-Wink MMA fighter ducks underneath. Swanson finishes the round with a partially blocked high kick and another straight right.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Lobov
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Lobov
Mike Sloan scores the round 10-9 Lobov

Round 2

Lobov starts the round working his low kicks and measured punches but eventually winds up back in the clinch with Swanson. It looks as if "The Russian Hammer" will be able to throw Swanson to the canvas from the tie-up, but Swanson keeps his footing. Moments later, it's Swanson landing a throw and putting Lobov on his back in the center of the cage. Swanson nearly takes full mount and then transitions to Lobov's back when the SBG Ireland product rolls over. Swanson has back-mount secured but is running out of time, with less than a minute left to work in the round. Lobov works back to his feet in the last 30 seconds and Swanson falls from his perch.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Swanson
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Swanson
Mike Sloan scores the round 10-9 Swanson

Round 3

Lobov stays on his back foot early in the round, drawing Swanson forward, but there's little action between the fighters in the opening minute. Both featherweights snipe with single punches, Lobov looking to land the harder shots with his plunging left hand. Swanson tries to clinch at the fence, but Lobov quickly shoves him away. Swanson zaps Lobov with a big right hand, opening a cut outside the Russian's left eye, but Lobov masks any damage. A head kick from Swanson produces a more visible wobble on Lobov, who has to dodge and weave with his back against the fence as Swanson tries to tee off with follow-up punches. Referee Dean calls the doctor in to check on a cut on Lobov's left eyelid, and the fight resumes after a few seconds' consultation. Swanson is starting to turn up the volume on his punches, sniping at Lobov with right hands and mixing in some high kicks, too. Swanson times a low kick perfectly and knocks Lobov backward with a straight right counter. Lobov finds some success in the closing moments, catching a cartwheel kick from Swanson and converting it for a takedown.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Swanson
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Swanson
Mike Sloan scores the round 10-9 Swanson

Round 4

After a brief clinch at the fence, the featherweights circle back to the middle and Lobov connects with a hard, straight left. Swanson suddenly looks frozen on his back foot, and Lobov walks him down to deliver a body kick, another left hand. The 145ers tie up in the center of the cage, and Swanson disengages with a spinning elbow that knocks Lobov back a few steps. Swanson connects with a combination, answered by Lobov by another left and a kick to the body. Swanson shuts down a clinch/takedown attempt from Lobov and cracks the "Hammer" back with a right hand. Lobov tries to shoot from a mile out and gets stood up by Swanson, but it's Lobov who gets the final say in the round with a knee to Swanson's midsection.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Swanson
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Swanson
Mike Sloan scores the round 10-9 Swanson

Round 5

Lobov swings heavy punches at Swanson, who appears to dodge the shots but falls to the ground as the result of a backpedaling slip. The fighters tie up briefly on the wall, then break and move back to the middle of the cage. Lobov looks to change levels as they clinch again, now separate again. Lobov grabs a single-leg, can't get the takedown and winds up pushing Swanson against the wall again. They separate again with 90 seconds on the clock, and Swanson sends Lobov staggering backward with a heavy combination. Swanson lands a slapping left high kick, ducks under Lobov's return fire and punctuates it with a left hook. Lobov is coming forward now, swinging punches; Swanson gets hold of him, however, and the Californian hurls Lobov to the ground with a throw. Lobov powers back to his feet for the final 20 seconds, and both men are still slinging punches when the final horn sounds.
