UFC Fight Night 125 Weigh-in Update: Anders Finally Makes Weight; Munhoz, Prazeres Over

Things did not go smoothly on the scales ahead of the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s debut in Belem, Brazil, but Eryk Anders finally made 186 pounds.

Friday at early weigh-ins in advance of UFC Fight Night 125, three main card fighters missed their contracted marks, including first-time headliner Eryk Anders, who checked in at 187.9 pounds for his scheduled middleweight contest with former light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida, who tipped the beam at 186 pounds on his first try.

According to a report by MMAJunkie, the Brazilian MMA Athletic Commission (CABMMA) told media members that the 10-0 Anders was given an additional hour to make weight after approval was given by Machida and on-site doctors. With 10 minutes to spare, he finally made 186 pounds.

Co-main event bantamweight Pedro Munhoz clocked in five pounds overweight at 140, while his foe John Dodson made the 135-pound limit on the mark. Elsewhere, Michel Prazeres weighed in at 161 for his slated lightweight bout with Desmond Green (156). This is the third time “Tractor” has missed weight in his last four bouts after blowing it on the scales for previous contests against Robert Burns (158) and Mads Burnell (159).

Munhoz and Prazeres will all be fined 20 percent of their purses. CABMMA has the discretion to recoup 10 percent of a fighter’s purse in this instance, but will reportedly forego taking a tithe. In these two cases, both fighters lose 20 percent of their show money and 20 percent of their full purse if their opponent accepts a catchweight bout and wins.
