Alex Chambers vs. Livia Renata Souza

Round 1

Souza misses with her first few leg kicks, but a right hand over the top puts Chambers on her back foot immediately. Souza waits a moment before blitzing the Australian, running her against the fence to land a few more punches. The former Invicta champion scores a quick takedown, moves to full mount and wraps up Chambers' neck in a mounted guillotine choke. Chambers tries to resist, but after 10 seconds of squeeze, "Astro Girl" is forced to tap out. The sparse Sao Paulo crowd goes wild for their local fighter, as Souza records a decisive victory in her Octagon debut.

The Official Result

Livia Renata Souza def. Alex Chambers via Submission (Guillotine Choke) R1 1:21

Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos vs. Luigi Vendramini

Round 1

Vendramini shoots for an early takedown and gets caught in a front headlock. Dos Santos sprawls as he adjusts his grip on the neck of the "Italian Stallion." Dos Santos drops to his back, now with a Peruvian necktie wrapped up, but Vendramini doesn't seem overly concerned with the submission attempt. After 30 seconds of effort, dos Santos abandons the choke, and Vendramini turns the tables instantly, jumping on dos Santos' back as they stand up. Vendramini secures the position with a body triangle, then slides his right arm around dos Santos' neck, although not underneath the chin. Dos Santos drops to the ground, Vendramini still locked onto his back with the triangle. Vendramini tries the rear-naked choke again, still can't get it as dos Santos continues to hand-fight. Dos Santos stands up, leaning against the fence as he tries to shake Vendramini off his back. Vendramini finally drops off, dodging a spinning elbow from "Capoeira" as he does. Dos Santos pressures with kicks and jabs but neither man is bringing much in terms of effective offense here in the final minute of round one. Dos Santos finds a home for his right hand before the horn.

Sherdog Scores

Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Vendramini
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Vendramini
Mike Sloan scores the round 10-9 Vendramini

Round 2

Dos Santos sprawls on another early takedown attempt from Vendramini, but is unable to make the Italian-born Brazilian pay for the mistake. Vendramini throws a low kick and either slips or hurts his left foot, because he stumbles as he tries to reset. This time, dos Santos makes him pay: a jumping knee finds the jaw of Vendramini, and "Capoeira" finishes him off with a blistering right hand. Referee Fernando Portella rushes in to save the unconscious Vendramini from further punishment.

The Official Result

Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos def. Luigi Vendramini via KO (Flying Knee and Punch) R2 1:20

Thales Leites vs. Hector Lombard

Round 1

Lombard dodges an early head kick, then puts a few hard chops on the inside of Leites' lead leg. The Cuban-born judoka continues to kick at Leites' left knee, as Leites waits for an opening to attack the stocky southpaw. Leites finds the mark with his right hand early in the third minute, but the middleweights go straight back to their slow-paced circling. Lombard fires a big left over the top but only finds the chest of Leites, who is circling directly into the power hand of "Lightning." Lombard is still working the left leg of Leites, and finishes the round dodging another high kick from the Brazilian.

Sherdog Scores

Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Lombard
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Lombard
Mike Sloan scores the round 10-9 Lombard

Round 2

Leites lands a body kick, has his foot caught, but yanks back the leg before Lombard can capitalize. Lombard throws another leg kick; Leites is waiting this time and knocks the off-balance judoka to the mat, but Lombard springs back to his feet within seconds. Leites eats a short hook from Lombard, comes back with a leg kick and a punch of his own. Halfway through the round, Leites is starting to turn up the volume, pressuring Lombard backward to the fence and firing off big right hands. Leites clinches with Lombard, pulls guard and looks for an armbar or triangle, but Lombard snuffs out the brief sub attempt and climbs back to his feet. Leites catches Lombard in the Thai clinch and drills him with a few knees to the body.

Sherdog Scores

Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Leites
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Leites
Mike Sloan scores the round 10-9 Leites

Round 3

Lombard comes out for the final round with a sizeable cut over his right eye. After some clinching on the fence, the middleweights get back to striking, and now it's Leites finding success with leg kicks. Leites tags Lombard with a right hand as the Cuban stands stock-still in the center of the cage, apparently waiting for something to counter. Both veterans looks spent, fighting at a sluggish pace here in the last frame. Leites may have a little more in the tank, as he continues to worsen the cut over Lombard's eye with punches, continues to land inside leg kicks on the smaller man. They hit the fence to clinch in the final minute, Lombard taking the outside position. Leites pushes him off the wall and trips him to the floor, and the retiring Brazilian finishes his career attempting to climb on Lombard's back.

Sherdog Scores

Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Leites (29-28 Leites)
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Leites (29-28 Leites)
Mike Sloan scores the round 10-9 Leites (29-28 Leites)

The Official Result

Thales Leites def. Hector Lombard via Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) R3 5:00

Mayra Bueno Silva vs. Gillian Robertson

Round 1

Robertson goes for an early takedown and winds up clinging to Silva's ankle at the base of the fence. Silva pulls the leg free after delivering a short elbow to the head. Seventy seconds in, Robertson completes a takedown near the center of the cage, then sets up in Silva's half guard. Passing to side control, Robertson leans right to left across the body of Silva, but the Brazilian rolls away and scrambles to her feet. Silva closes the gap and delivers a spinning kick to the body of Robertson, who's suddenly looking unsteady as she circles clockwise around the outside. Robertson gets in on a single-leg, but Silva forces her to the mat. Robertson tries a heel hook, and the bantamweights wind up in a leglock battle near the fence. Robertson sits up and takes top position again, this time in Silva's closed guard. With 40 seconds left, Robertson stands up and starts dropping punches on Silva. Inside the 10-second warning, Silva throws up her legs and catches Robertson in a tight armbar. Silva rolls and goes belly-down, and Robertson is forced to tap with almost no time left on the clock.

The Official Result

Marya Bueno Silva def. Gillian Robertson via Submission (Armbar) R1 4:55

Sergio Moraes vs. Ben Saunders

Round 1

The rangy southpaw Saunders circles counterclockwise, while Moraes stands in the center, pivoting on his heel to follow the American around the outside. Neither man throws anything in the opening 55 seconds, then the welterweights tie up and hit the fence. Moraes completes a quick takedown and steps over Saunders' butterfly guard, passing to half on Saunders' left. Saunders locks down Moraes' right arm and uses his own right hand to land short punches to the Brazilian's head. Moraes tries to advance position but isn't getting anywhere, and Saunders seems to be looking to referee Jerin Valel for a stand-up. Saunders uses rubber guard to further slow things down. Moraes continues to work on top with 1:40 on the clock, perhaps framing up an arm-triangle choke, although he's not in position to finish. Moraes steps over to full mount with 50 seconds on the clock, loops his right arm underneath Saunders' head. Saunders tries to buck and escape, but Moraes stays heavy on top. Moraes bails out and tries an armbar in the final 10 seconds, but Saunders clasps his hands and hangs on for dear life until he hears the horn.

Sherdog Scores

Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Moraes
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Moraes
Mike Sloan scores the round 10-9 Moraes

Round 2

Saunders takes the center of the cage as round two begins, but he's soon back on the floor after Moraes catches a kick and spins him down. Moraes winds up in the same funky half-guard as in round one, with Saunders attempting to use rubber guard to defuse the BJJ wiz's top game. Halfway through the round, Moraes has advanced to mount once again, this time with Saunders' head jammed up against the fence. Moraes seems to be hunting for an arm-triangle, now switches to an ezekiel choke, but Saunders is staying alive on the bottom. Moraes hops out of mount with 25 seconds on the clock, squeezing tight on the choke. Saunders is hanging tough, even giving a thumbs-up to referee Jerin Valel, but the American is ultimately forced to tap out.

The Official Result

Sergio Moraes def. Ben Saunders via Submission (Arm-Triangle Choke) R2 4:42

Augusto Sakai vs. Chase Sherman

Round 1

Sherman opens with a body kick, gets one to the lead leg in return. The heavyweights trade low kicks again, with Sakai appearing to land the harder shots directly on Sherman's left knee. Sakai begins checking Sherman's kicks as they continue circling in the second minute. Sakai swipes a right hand across the face of Sherman, which sprouts a grin as the "Vanilla Gorilla" resets and swings a combination in return. Sakai walks down Sherman and lands a harder left hand, but Sherman backs him up with a jab and a body kick. Both big men are starting to swing a bit more freely as they enter the final minute; Sakai appears to be landing the harder punches, though Sherman has been slightly more active and finishes the round with a short left hand.

Sherdog Scores

Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Sherman
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-10
Mike Sloan scores the round 10-9 Sakai

Round 2

Sakai comes away from an early exchange clutching his right eye, and Sherman immediately apologizes for an inadvertant eye poke caused by his outstretched right hand. Sakai is soon cleared to continue, and Sherman is issued a warning for the infraction by referee Marc Goddard. When action resumes, Sherman snaps off a jab, dodges a combo and gives Sakai a knee to the midsection. Sherman backs up Sakai to the fence and dings him with a standing elbow strike before putting the Brazilian in the clinch. Sakai breaks free and steps forward to land a right hand, but Sherman counters with an uppercut. Some ugly exchanges happening between the big men, though Sakai does appear to hurt Sherman with a pair of punches. Sherman slows the pace by holding Sakai on the fence until the halfway point of the round. Sakai seems emboldened by the combo he landed, while Sherman is suddenly looking tired, wanting to clinch again almost as soon as they separate. Sakai comes off the fence with 90 seconds on the clock and gives Sherman a knee to the gut. A tired Sherman continues to plod forward but is an increasingly easy target for the counter-minded Sakai.

Sherdog Scores

Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Sakai
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Sakai
Mike Sloan scores the round 10-9 Sakai

Round 3

Sherman marches forward on Sakai as the final round begins, but again it's Sakai doing the better work off his back foot, sticking the "Vanilla Gorilla" with counter right hands. Sherman puts a few kicks in Sakai's midsection, but the Brazilian comes alive with his best combination of the fight, rattling Sherman's head with a right, a left, another right. Sherman isn't going down, so Sakai slows down to hold him against the fence. There's 2:45 on the clock as Sherman breaks loose and pushes Sakai to the other side of the fence. Both heavyweights look absolutely spent, punching in slow-motion; Sakai lands a few clean shots to Sherman's face, but there doesn't seem to be much behind them. Sakai changes tactics and hurts Sherman with a knee to the body, then pulls down his head with the Thai clinch and lands a few to the chin. Sherman somehow stays standing, so Sakai tosses him to the floor. Landing in side control on Sherman's right side, Sakai tries to finish the fight with elbows, but it's not enough for referee Goddard. Sakai moves to the other side, locks down Sherman's near arm and smashes away with punches until Goddard has no choice but to stop the contest.

The Official Result

Augusto Sakai def. Chase Sherman via TKO (Punches) R3 4:03

Luis Henrique Barbosa de Oliveira vs. Ryan Spann

Round 1

Spann reaches over a leg kick to touch Henrique with a long right hand. Henrique tries to grab Spann's hips and gets shoved away, and Spann continues to walk down "KLB" with jabs and reaching punches. Henrique, now sporting a bloody nose, hustles Spann to the ground in the center of the cage. Henrique gets up but soon finds himself in trouble again, as Spann jumps guard with a guillotine choke attempt. Spann loses the choke but powers back to his feet, where Henrique tries to take off his head with a wild right hand. Henrique scores another takedown but can't do anything with the position before the end of the round.

Sherdog Scores

Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Spann
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Spann
Mike Sloan scores the round 10-9 Spann

Round 2

Spann puts his jab right in Henrique's face to start round two; Henrique doesn't like it and wants to clinch on the fence instead. Spann reverses to the outside, then separates, but less than two minutes in, Henrique has completed another takedown. Henrique postures up in Spann's wide open guard, dropping punches on the American's face as he jams "Superman" up against the base of the fence. Henrique keeps Spann cornered against the fence, sitting up to thump him with the occasional hammerfist. Spann sits up, trying to stand, but he leaves his neck exposed and Henrique wastes no time snaring him in a guillotine. Spann does well to wall-walk out of the submission, winding up on top, in side control on Henrique's right. Henrique still hasn't let go of the choke, but Spann doesn't seem interested in the Von Flue choke, instead flattening out Henrique and stepping over to full mount. Spann finishes the round strong, slamming Henrique with big elbows from the mount.

Sherdog Scores

Brian Knapp scores the round 10-10
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-10
Mike Sloan scores the round 10-9 Henrique

Round 3

Henrique gives Spann no space to work in the final frame, immediately shooting a high double-leg against the fence, then lifting and slamming Spann to the ground near the center of the cage. Henrique lands in half-guard on Spann's right, looks for an arm-triangle, but he's on the wrong side to finish it. Spann withstands the early attack and sweeps to top position about two minutes into the round. Henrique winds up on his right side, clinging to Spann's right leg, while "Superman" sits up to drop punches and elbows. Spann flattens out Henrique and moves to side control on the Brazilian's right side, then passes to the left. Henrique is trying to kick off the cage but doesn't seem to have the energy left to escape. Spann gets pushed back to half guard but remains on top as the final minute ticks away, drawing boos from the partisan Brazilian crowd. Spann stands up and delivers a few knees to the body before both men stand up to finish the fight slinging hands.

Sherdog Scores

Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Spann (30-28 Spann)
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Spann (30-28 Spann)
Mike Sloan scores the round 10-9 Spann (29-28 Spann)

The Official Result

Ryan Spann def. Luis Henrique via Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28) R3 5:00

Evan Dunham vs. Francisco Trinaldo

Round 1

Trinaldo takes the center of the cage as he follows his fellow southpaw around the outside, with Dunham circling clockwise here in the opening minute. Dunham tries to close the distance on the shorter man, but "Massaranduba" slides backward to avoid the long, straight punches. Dunham gets inside on a single-leg but is quickly stood up by the Brazilian. Trinaldo puts Dunham on his back foot with a left hand, followed by a spinning kick to the midsection; Dunham gives his opponent a smile and a nod. Late in the opening round, Trinaldo ducks a punch from Dunham and pops back up to hit the American with a short left hook. Trinaldo is going headhunting now, looking to walk down Dunham and land the left. Dunham turns the tables with a knee and an uppercut that puts Trinaldo on his knees. Dunham tries to catch a guillotine, but he gets dummied and flipped, leaving Trinaldo on top, dropping punches. Dunham gets hold of a single-leg and drives forward, standing up and putting Trinaldo on the fence in the process. Trinaldo breaks loose and lands a slapping left high kick to the face of Dunham, who seems unfazed by the strike as the round ends.

Sherdog Scores

Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Trinaldo
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Trinaldo
Mike Sloan scores the round 10-9 Dunham

Round 2

Trinaldo connects with a big left hand early, but Dunham wears it well and goes back to circling the outside. "Massaranduba" sprawls on a shot and catches Dunham in a front headlock, then drops to his knees and tries to cinch an anaconda choke. Trinaldo is close but doesn't seem to have the choke quite right, and Dunham powers back to his feet with just under three minutes remaining in the round. Dunham lands a short right hand that leaves Trinaldo swinging at air. Trinaldo goes body-head with his left hand as he attempts to walk down the UFC lightweight stalwart toward the middle of the round. Both guys are swinging but neither is finding a home for any big power shots. Then, inside the final minute of the round, Trinaldo absolutely obliterates an incoming Dunham with a knee to the right side of his rib cage. Dunham immediately drops to his back, clearly in agonizing pain, and referee Marc Goddard rushes in before Trinaldo can tack on any further punishment.

The Official Result

Francisco Trinaldo def. Evan Dunham via KO (Knee to the Body) R2 4:10

Christos Giagos vs. Charles Oliveira

Round 1

Local favorite Oliveira takes the center of the cage and quickly looks to close the distance on Giagos, who slows the roll of "Charles do Bronx" with a speedy right hand. Oliveira resets and steps forward again, launching a spinning back kick that's deflected by Giagos. The first takedown attempt from Oliveira is denied by Giagos, and the lightweights wind up clinching on the fence with three minutes on the clock. Oliveira misses with a jumping knee and gets backed up by another Giagos right hand. The tense striking exchanges continue through the latter half of the round, with Giagos hopping around the perimeter and Oliveira trying to close the distance from the middle. Oliveira finally completes a takedown with 65 seconds on the clock; 15 seconds later, he steps over to full mount, but Giagos escapes immediately. Oliveira is sporting a bloody nose from Giagos crisp punches, and "The Spartan" tries to worsen it with another combination. Oliveira shoots for another takedown in the last 20 seconds and winds up on his back after being stuffed and pulling guard.

Sherdog Scores

Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Oliveira
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-10
Mike Sloan scores the round 10-9 Oliveira

Round 2

Oliveira touches Giagos with a pair of spinning backfists in the opening moments of the round, but Giagos wears both strikes well. A push kick to the body sends Giagos bouncing off the fence, but Oliveira's attempted clinch-takedown is broken up quickly. Oliveira continues to pressure Giagos with spinning attacks, now front kicks to the midsection. Giagos is backed up to the fence but seems unconcerned as he looks to counter the Brazilian's increasingly flashy kickboxing with straight counterpunching. Halfway through the round and the fight, Oliveira continues to attack the body of Giagos with front kicks. Oliveira changes levels for a takedown near the fence, landing in half guard. Giagos gives up his back as he tries to stand, and "Charles do Bronx" immediately secures back-mount with a body triangle. From there, it's only a matter of seconds before Oliveira has Giagos tapping to an airtight rear-naked choke.

The Official Result

Charles Oliveira def. Christos Giagos via Submission (Rear-Naked Choke) R2 3:22

Randa Markos vs. Marina Rodriguez

Round 1

Markos eats a right hand from Rodriguez as the Canadian closes the distance to clinch. As soon as the strawweights hit the fence, Rodriguez spins to take the outside position. Markos reverses and hits a head-and-arm throw, putting Rodriguez in an uncomfortable position at the base of the fence. Markos steps over to full mount and stretches out Rodriguez, abandoning an attempt to gift-wrap the Brazilian's arm in order to maintain heavy top position. The Brazilian crowd boos as Markos continues to crush Rodriguez into the mat. Markos postures up and stays heavy as Rodriguez tries to buck her off, landing a few short punches before the UFC debutante is able to reclaim half guard. With 80 seconds on the clock, Markos is still dominating from top position, now in side control on Rodriguez's right. Markos drops a few short left hands on Rodriguez's face, followed by some elbows in the final 15 seconds.

Sherdog Scores

Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Markos
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Markos
Mike Sloan scores the round 10-9 Markos

Round 2

Markos lands a few short punches in a brief tie-up which ends with a knee from Rodriguez. More dirty boxing from Markos, who pops Rodriguez with uppercuts in another short-lived clinch. The lanky Rodriguez is doing better to keep things at her range in this round, with the more compact Markos unable to work her way inside and execute a takedown. Markos explodes forward but only manages to drive Rodriguez against the fence, and the Brazilian exits with another knee to the body. Late in the round, Markos is sporting a cut around the outside of her left eye. The Canadian is starting to bring more pressure, but she's breathing heavy and Rodriguez may be the fresher fighter at this point. Rodriguez explodes forward in the final 20 seconds, attacking Markos with combinations that keep the "Quiet Storm" on her back foot to the end of the round.

Sherdog Scores

Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Markos
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Rodriguez
Mike Sloan scores the round 10-9 Rodriguez

Round 3

Markos quickly gets hold of Rodriguez and pins her against the fence with an underhook. She tries the same head-and-arm throw from round one, but this time Rodriguez is ready and quickly transitions onto Markos' back. Markos bails out of the dangerous position and back to her feet, though Rodriguez does likewise and punches Markos on her way out. Rodriguez comes forward, gets wrapped up and tripped to the floor by Markos, who finds herself on top again in Rodriguez's half guard with 3:30 on the clock. Rodriguez's left side is flush to the fence, with Markos sitting on her right leg in half guard. Rodriguez wants to kick off the fence but has no leverage, so she remains underneath the Canadian for a full minute, until Markos passes to side control. It proves a bad move for Markos, as the position leaves Rodriguez's legs free to kick off the fence. The strawweights scramble back to their feet with two minutes left in the fight. Markos' cut has gotten worse, and she's sporting some serious swelling around her left eye from Rodriguez's sharp right hands. Markos works her jab off her back foot as Rodriguez presses forward in the final minute. Both fighters look exhausted as the last 60 seconds tick away, but it's Rodriguez who's able to finish strong, touching Markos with several right hands.

Sherdog Scores

Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Rodriguez (29-28 Markos)
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Rodriguez (29-28 Rodriguez)
Mike Sloan scores the round 10-9 Rodriguez (29-28 Rodriguez)

The Official Result

Randa Markos vs. Marina Rodriguez is declared a Majority Draw (28-28, 28-28, 29-28) R3 5:00

Renan Barao vs. Andre Ewell

Round 1

Barao appears to sting Ewell with a body shot, but the backpedaling American floors the charging Barao with a straight left hand. Barao recovers quickly and powers back to his feet, hugging Ewell against the fence as he attempts to clear the cobwebs. Barao keeps hold of the UFC newcomer and takes him down to the base of the fence. The Nova Uniao fighters drives hard knees into Ewell's sides and chest before "Mr. Highlight" is able to reclaim half guard. Barao lands three or four clean right hands to the face of Ewell, who is still struggling to escape from Barao's powerful top pressure. After the early knockdown, Barao has spent the majority of the round on top of Ewell. With 65 seconds on the clock, Barao steps over to full mount, then peels off to attempt an armbar. Ewell tries to step over the head of Barao, who hits a sweep, stands up with Ewell and then trips him back to the mat. Barao closes out the final 20 seconds back on top, in Ewell's half guard.

Sherdog Scores

Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Barao
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Barao
Mike Sloan scores the round 10-9 Barao

Round 2

Ewell stays on his feet through the first minute of round two, firing a few hard left hands down the center to back up the former champion. Through two minutes, Barao seems to be having trouble getting inside, as Ewell has found better timing with his lefts. One straight left catches Barao on the jaw and sends him backing up about 10 feet. Barao's offensive output is nowhere to be found in round two; after he throws a spinning kick, Barao stays still and gets popped with a two-piece from the UFC newcomer. Ewell goes to the body, then back up top. With 70 seconds left, Barao tries a single-leg and gets stood up by a terrific Ewell sprawl. Barao's second effort yields a takedown and lands him in half guard, but he doesn't seem to be in much of a hurry to do anything as the final minute ticks away. Ewell just wraps up from the bottom, preventing any passes or sub attempts, and this one will go to round three.

Sherdog Scores

Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Ewell
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Ewell
Mike Sloan scores the round 10-9 Ewell

Round 3

After another minute of low-action circling on the feet, Ewell backs up Barao with a straight left hand, then another. Barao throws a kick and gets countered by a Ewell one-two, but the Brazilian stands tall. Ewell is landing his left almost at will now, and Barao seems content to stand in front of the Californian and continue losing their brief striking exchanges. Two minutes remain in the bout, and neither fighter is working with much urgency. Ewell sends Barao backing up to the fence with a left hand. It looks like Barao may have rolled his ankle as he stepped backward, but Ewell's heavy, accurate punches aren't helping matters either. Seventy seconds remain in what is starting to look like a lost cause for Barao, and a major upset for Ewell, who's walking down the Brazilian with impunity now. Ewell is still coming on strong, keeping Barao on his back foot until the final horn.

Sherdog Scores

Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Ewell (29-28 Ewell)
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Ewell (29-28 Ewell)
Mike Sloan scores the round 10-9 Ewell (29-28 Ewell)

The Official Result

Andre Ewell def. Renan Barao via Split Decision (29-28, 29-28, 28-29) R3 5:00

Sam Alvey vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira

Round 1

Alvey touches Nogueira with a left hand in an early exchange, but "Little Nog" barely acknowledges the punch as he continues to creep forward on the American. Alvey's back is almost flush to the fence before Nogueira eases off and allows him to step back to center. Halfway through the round, Nogueira is still pressuring, but still letting Alvey off the hook each time he's got him backed up. Alvey takes a poke to his right eye, but he wants to continue almost as soon as referee Marc Goddard pauses the fight. It's more ineffective boxing from both men through the middle of the round, but things start to come alive with 60 seconds remaining. Nogueira starts to get aggressive and is made to pay with an Alvey left hand on the cheek. Alvey doesn't follow up, allowing Nogueira to backpedal away, then walking him down to land another left hand 20 seconds later.

Sherdog Scores

Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Alvey
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Alvey
Mike Sloan scores the round 10-9 Alvey

Round 2

Nogueira comes after Alvey with some reaching combinations, including a whipping overhand left that puts the American in reverse. Nogueira walks him down, but Alvey slows things with a Thai clinch. Nogueira breaks up the clinch and Alvey turns his back in order to dash away. Nogueira smells blood and isn't letting Alvey off the hook. Nogueira comes over the top with a big left hand that connects to the back of a pivoting Alvey's head. Alvey's legs go out from under him, Nogueria rattles his head with a few more punches, and referee Goddard steps in to call a stop to the contest. Alvey recovers as soon as the fight is stopped and manages to grab Nogueira's leg for a post-stoppage takedown, but it's too late.

The Official Result

Antonio Rogerio Nogueira def. Sam Alvey via TKO (Punches) R2 1:00

Alex Oliveira vs. Carlo Pedersoli Jr.

Round 1

The welterweights move toward the fence straight away, Pedersoli in a wide southpaw stance against the orthodox "Cowboy." Pedersoli throws a side kick, but Oliveira catches his right foot by the heel and smashes Pedersoli with a right uppercut. Oliveira hustles his wounded opponent to the ground and hits him with two or three short right hands, but it's the fourth and fifth which dribble Pedersoli's head into unconsciousness and send referee Jerin Valel into action.

The Official Result

Alex Oliveira def. Carlo Pedersoli via KO (Punches) R1 0:39

Thiago Santos vs. Eryk Anders

Round 1

English referee Mark Goddard is the third man in the cage for tonight's 205-pound main event, with judges Guilherme Bravo, Derek Cleary and Sal D'Amato scoring the five-round contest. Anders takes the center of the cage while fellow lefty Santos circles clockwise around the outside. Santos' first kick is caught and converted for a takedown by Anders, but "Marreta" scrambles back to his feet. Anders jams the huge Brazilian against the fence and clings to his legs. Anders switches to a single and trips Santos to the floor. Santos jumps back up immediately and is pinned against a cage post by Anders with a right underhook. Two minutes in, Santos breaks loose and circles away. Anders gets a mitt up to block a right high kick, but Santos -- now working orthodox -- reaches out to touch him with a long right hand. With two minutes on the clock, Anders gets hold of Santos and puts him back on the wall. Santos has space to land a couple quick knees to the body, after which Anders drops low on a single-leg. Santos is taken down, stands back up and breaks away. Just over one minute left in the opening round now, and Santos is trying to reclaim some ground with big punches and spinning kicks. Anders does well to stay clear, except for a one-two that rocks his head.

Sherdog Scores

Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Santos
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Santos
Mike Sloan scores the round 10-9 Santos

Round 2

Santos backs up Anders with a flurry of kicks before stinging him with an early right hand that sends the American shooting for a takedown. Anders botches a single-leg and leaves Santos standing over him, raining down brutal right hands. Santos settles into Anders' guard for all of 10 seconds before standing up and looking for a better angle to drop bombs. Santos navigates past a few upkicks and comes down to guard again, now with 3:30 on the clock. Santos tries to pass and nearly allows Anders to stand, but "Marreta" overpowers the former football player and keeps him pinned. Anders finally climbs back to his feet with 2:45 remaining, and Santos immediately puts him in danger with a series of hooks. Santos backs up to the fence, drawing Anders forward and allowing the Brazilian to land a hard body kick. Anders isn't backing off, though he's being more cautious now as he presses forward. Santos is sporting some damage underneath his right eye. Santos narrowly misses with a slashing back-elbow before a short backfist puts Anders on the run. Santos staggers backward and is taken down at the base of the fence, where the Brazilian striker immediately has his back taken. Anders sinks both hooks and starts hunting for a rear-naked chokw with over four minutes remaining in the round. Anders snakes his left arm around Santos' jaw but can't get underneath the chin. Santos rolls over, but Anders can't roll with him and the 205ers climb back to their feet. Santos comes charging at Anders with vicious punches, another spinning elbow. Anders is eating some brutal shots here, but he still has the wherewithall to clinch and shove "Marreta" against the wall. Anders holds Santos in place for 30 seconds until the fighters separate. Santos climbs up, careful to avoid a knee from Anders along the way. Ref Goddard pauses the fight to replace Anders' mouthpiece, much to the displeasure of the partisan crowd. When action resumes, Santos spends the last 20 seconds of the round elbowing Anders' face until the horn.

An exhausted and battered Anders is across the cage from his corner at the end of the round. His cornermen try to lift him off the canvas, but Anders can't stand on his own. His corner tries again to lift him, and this time Anders collapses completely. Referee Goddard sees this and steps out to the center of the cage, waving his arms. This one is all over, a technical knockout victory for Santos, as Anders cannot get off the canvas at the end of round three.
