The Ultimate Fighting Championship will return to Auckland, New Zealand, this Saturday, and every fighter that hit the scales made weight.
UFC Fight Night 168 is headlined by a pivotal lightweight bout between Paul Felder and Dan Hooker. Both men will be looking to enter the title conversation with an emphatic victory. Felder (17-4) dropped back down to lightweight after losing a split decision to Mike Perry and has racked up decision wins over James Vick and Edson Barboza since then. “The Irish Dragon” will look to make it three in a row against Hooker, and he had no issue making weight by coming in at 155.5 pounds.
Hooker (19-8) is also on a two-fight win streak as he knocked out Vick and won a decision over Al Iaquinta since losing to Barboza. The Auckland native will look to make his country proud in his first UFC main event. “The Hangman” looked great on the scales and weighed 156 pounds.
The scheduled welterweight clash between Takashi Sato and Maki Pitolo was scrapped from the card after the latter was declared unable to compete due to illness. Sato hit his mark of 170 pounds, but UFC officials could not find any replacement opponent.
UFC Auckland will air entirely on ESPN+. The prelims will begin at 4 p.m. ET/1 p.m. PT, while the main card will commence at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT.
