UFC Fight Night 179 Medicals: Cory Sandhagen Among Six Fighters Facing 180-Day Terms



It appears that Cory Sandhagen did not emerge unscathed from his highlight-reel victory over Marlon Moraes at UFC Fight Night 179.

The Elevation Fight Team member is facing a potential 180-day medical suspension unless he receives clearance from an ophthalmologist. At a minimum, Sandhagen is suspended 30 days with 21 days no contact. Moraes, who was stopped by a spinning wheel kick and follow-up punches in the second round of Saturday’s bantamweight headliner, is suspended 45 days with 21 days of no contact.

The UFC, which acted as its own regulating body for the event, recently released a full list of medical suspensions to mixedmartialarts.com. UFC Fight Night 179 took place at the Flash Forum in Abu Dhabi on Saturday night. Everyone who competed received at least a seven-day mandatory suspension.

Five other fighters from the card are facing potential 180-day sits: Tom Breese, Rodrigo Nascimento Ferreira, Impa Kasanganay, Tony Kelley and Omar Morales.

Cory Sandhagen: 180 days unless cleared by ophthalmologist; minimum 30 days with 21 days no contact

Marlon Moraes: 45 days for TKO defeat and 21 days no contact

Makwan Amirkhani: 30 days for hard bout and 21 days no contact

Marcin Tybura: 30 days for hard bout and 21 days no contact

Ben Rothwell: 45 days for right eyebrow laceration and 30 days no contact

Markus Perez: 60 days for KO defeat and 45 days no contact

Alan Baudot: 30 days for TKO defeat and 21 days no contact

Ilia Topuria: 30 days for left eyelid laceration and 21 days no contact

Tom Breese: 180 days unless cleared by right knee MRI and left tibia/fibula x-ray; minimum 30 days with 21 days no contact

K.B. Bhullar: 45 days for TKO defeat and 30 days no contact

Rodrigo Nascimento Ferreira: 180 days unless cleared by ophthalmologist; mandatory 30 days with 21 days no contact for right scalp laceration

Impa Kasanganay: 180 days unless cleared by ophthalmologist; mininimum suspension 60 days with 45 days no contact for KO defeat

Tony Kelley: 180 days unless cleared by right elbow MRI and right tibia/fibula x-ray; minimum suspension 30 days with 21 days no contact

Omar Morales: 180 days unless cleared by right elbow MRI and left tibia/fibula and left ankle x-ray; minimum suspension 30 days with 21 days no contact

Bruno Silva: 30 days for right eyebrow laceration and 21 days no contact
