The main event of UFC Fight Night 188 has major stakes for the bantamweight rankings with the top of the division currently on hold as current champion Aljamain Sterling has neck surgery. Former Ultimate Fighting Championship bantamweight titleholder Cody Garbrandt returns to the Octagon on Saturday against surging contender Rob Font.

This marks the first UFC main event for Font (18-4). Having won three straight against Sergio Pettis, Ricky Simon and Marlon Moraes, there is no doubt that the Boston native is now a top contender. He'll look to place himself in title contention with a win over the former champion. Font took full advantage of the one-pound allowance, and weighed 136 pounds.

Garbrandt rebounded from a three-fight skid that saw him brutally knocked out twice by T.J. Dillashaw and subsequently by Pedro Munhoz. Last time out, it was Garbrandt that delivered the highlight-reel finish, starching Raphael Assuncao with a vicious right hand. "No Love" stepped on the scale at 135.5 pounds.

The weigh-ins for Saturday's event had a bit of drama in the early going, as Raulian Paiva was hospitalized after his weight cut went south. The promotion was able to find a replacement against David Dvorak, pulling in unbeaten newcomer Juancamilo Ronderos suddenly -- as first reported by MMA Junkie. Ronderos (128.5) did come in over the 126-pound cap, and he has been fined 20 percent of his purse, but the fight is still on.

UFC Fight Night 188 kicks off at 4 p.m. ET/1 p.m. PT for its preliminary card. The main card follows at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT.
