Chris de la Rocha will make his first Octagon foray against Daniel Omielanczuk at UFC Fight Night on July 18.
De La Rocha’s opportunity came when Konstantin Erokhin was forced to pull out of the heavyweight bout due to injury. UFC officials recently announced the new matchup. The UFC Fight Night event takes place at the SSE Hydro Arena in Glasgow and features a middleweight clash pitting Michael Bisping against Thales Leites.
The relatively inexperienced De La Rocha has been victorious in his first three pro fights. He earned his most notable triumph in his last outing, scoring a first-round technical knockout triumph over World Series of Fighting, Legacy Fighting Championship and Cage Warriors Fighting Championship veteran D.J. Linderman on July 26, 2014.
After knocking out Nandor Guelmino in his Octagon debut, Omielanczuk has suffered back-to-back losses against Jared Rosholt and Anthony Hamilton in his last two appearances. The 32-year-old Pole is 16-5-1 as a professional, including nine victories via tapout.
