A new pair of bouts was announced for the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s Scottish debut on Monday.
A member of Glasgow’s Dinky Ninja Fight Team, Whiteford will return to the cage after more than one year on the sideline. “The Hammer” last saw action in a unanimous decision win over Daniel Pineda in March 2014. Whiteford was slated to face Denis Siver last October but withdrew from the bout due to injury.
Whiteford will attempt to defend his home turf against Dublin’s Redmond, who looks to rebound from a lopsided January defeat against Mirsad Bektic in his UFC debut. Prior to that setback, “Redser” had won seven of his eight appearances in England’s Cage Warriors Fighting Championship organization.
Edwards suffered a decision defeat in his first UFC appearance but made a strong impression in his sophomore bout, knocking out veteran Seth Baczynski in just eight seconds on April 11. He’ll tangle with Poland’s Pawlak, who has also split his two Octagon appearances so far, falling to Peter Sobotta before rebounding with a win against Sheldon Westcott.
