UFC Fight Night Phoenix Salaries: B.J. Penn Earns An Event-High $150,000 Purse

At UFC Fight Night 103, Yair Rodriguez ran roughshod over MMA legend B.J. Penn, but he couldn't top him at the pay window.

Following the biggest win of his young career, the 24-year-old Rodriguez took home $100,000, including a $50,000 win bonus. For his second-round knockout loss, Penn earned a disclosed $150,000 flat.

On Tuesday, the Arizona Boxing and Mixed Martial Arts Commission, a division of the Arizona Department of Gaming, released disclosed salaries for the event, the UFC's second at the Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix. In December 2014, Junior dos Santos topped Stipe Miocic in the UFC on Fox 13 headliner from the same venue, then known as the U.S. Airways Center.

Only one other fighter on the Phoenix card broke six figures for their disclosed purse, as longtime UFC lightweight veteran Joe Lauzon erned $58,000 to show and $58,000 to win, earning him $116,000 for his controversial, split-decision victory over Poland's Marcin Held, who made $20,000.

The total estimated salary payout for the event was $841,000.
