Dennis Siver, Charles Rosa, Max Holloway and Mike Wilkinson captured $50,000 post-fight bonuses following UFC Fight Night "Nelson vs. Story" at the Ericsson Globe Arena in Stockholm on Saturday.
Siver and Rosa garnered “Fight of the Night” honors for their entertaining three-round featherweight scrap. The American Top Team-trained Rosa, who was a short-notice replacement for Taylor Lapilus, had his moments, but ultimately the more experienced Siver prevailed. A trademark spinning back kick to the body in round three sealed a unanimous verdict for the Russian-born German.
Meanwhile, Holloway took home one of the “Performance of the Night” awards thanks to his first-round technical knockout victory over Akira Corassani. The 22-year-old Hawaiian started slowly, but gradually found a rhythm and dropped “The Ultimate Fighter 14” semifinalist twice with right hands before putting the fight away 3:11 into the period.
The largest underdog on the card, Wilkinson earned a $50,000 “Performance of the Night” bonus for his first-round knockout of Niklas Backstrom. The Swedish featherweight initially backed “The Ultimate Fighter: The Smashes” alum toward the cage with a front kick and knees in the clinch, but when he went to the well again with another front kick, Wilkinson countered with a wicked overhand right to send his foe’s head bouncing violently off the mat. A few follow-up punches brought an end to the contest 1:19 into the opening frame.
