UFC Fight Night Zagreb Update: Newcomers Velickovic, Di Chirico Paired for Croatia Card
Middleweight prospects Bojan Velickovic and Alessio Di Chirico will meet this spring when both men make their Octagon debuts in Croatia, UFC officials announced on Sunday.
The three-round matchup will be part of the undercard for the first UFC Fight Night in Zagreb, which takes place April 10 at Zagreb Arena. Still without a main event, the show will feature a heavyweight matchup between Gabriel Gonzaga and Ruslan Magomedov, as well as a 205-pound contest pitting Jan Blachowicz against Igor Pokrajac.
Velickovic joins the UFC less than a month after claiming the vacant Resurrection Fighting Alliance welterweight title with a third-round guillotine choke submission of Benjamin Smith. The 27-year-old Serbia native has recorded finishes in 11 of the 13 wins on his ledger -- eight via submission; three via knockout -- and has not been stopped in 16 professional appearances.
Di Chirico, 26, found success in Italy’s amateur system and has since racked up a perfect pro record of 9-0. A similarly impressive finisher, “Manzo” has stopped all but one of his opponents.
