The Ultimate Fighting Championship and Fox Sports have terminated their respective broadcasting services agreements with former title contender and analyst Chael Sonnen.

The organizations announced the move in a joint statement on Monday evening, roughly 48 hours after reports surfaced that Sonnen had failed a second random drug test in the span of two months.

“This decision comes in light of Sonnen failing a second test conducted by the Nevada Athletic Commission for banned substances in June,” the statement read. “Sonnen was previously under temporary suspension by the Nevada Athletic Commission for failing an initial test conducted in May.”

When news broke on June 10 that Sonnen had failed a random drug test for two banned substances, the 37-year-old -- as well as UFC President Dana White -- appeared later that day on Fox Sports 1 to explain Sonnen’s actions.

The West Linn, Ore., native is set to compete against Andre Galvao on Aug. 9 for Brazilian jiu-jitsu promotion Metamoris. When asked if Sonnen would still compete in the main event of Metamoris 4, a representative said “yes.”
