Francis Ngannou will be the second UFC talent — and third MMA star overall — to play a part in the “Fast & Furious” franchise.

According to Deadline, the heavyweight contender will have a role in the as-yet-to-be titled “Fast & Furious 9,” although details regarding his involvement remain scarce at the moment. The movie is currently filming and stars Vin Diesel, Charlize Theron, Michelle Rodriguez and John Cena, among others. Justin Lin will direct the film, which is scheduled for a May 22 release next year.

Ngannou joins former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey and ex-Strikeforce competitor Gina Carano as fighters who have starred in the franchise. Rousey was on “Furious 7,” while Carano appeared on “Fast & Furious 6.”

One of the most imposing talents in the heavyweight division, Ngannou is 9-2 in the UFC and has finished all of his victories inside of two rounds. He challenged for heavyweight gold in January 2018, losing a five-round verdict to then champion Stipe Miocic. He has since re-established himself as a top contender after finishing Curtis Blaydes, Cain Velasquez and Junior dos Santos during a current three-fight winning streak.
