UFC Live 6: Bantamweight Vet Easton Meets Hougland on Oct. 1

Bantamweight Mike Easton will make his UFC debut on Oct. 1, when “The Hulk” squares off with Jeff Hougland at UFC Live 6.

UFC officials Tuesday announced the matchup, adding the bout to the sixth installment of the UFC Live series on cable network Versus.

Featuring a 135-pound title tilt between Easton’s teammate, champion Dominick Cruz, and AMC Pankration product Demetrious Johnson, UFC Live 6 will emanate from Verizon Center in Washington, D.C. The event marks the promotion’s inaugural trip to the U.S. capital.

Easton (Pictured) has been bested only once as a professional and the Team Lloyd Irvin export has won five straight contests leading up to his UFC debut. After suffering his lone loss at the hands of Reynaldo Duarte in 2007, the southpaw notched victories over Gerald Lovato and John Dodson before capturing the Ultimate Warrior Challenge bantamweight title by beating Justin Robbins in 2009. The District of Columbia native would go on to defend his title successfully twice more that year before being sidelined by injuries.

Hougland made his UFC debut on July 2, outpointing fellow Octagon neophyte Donny Walker at UFC 132. An Illinois native who now resides in Enumclaw, Wash., Hougland has not lost since 2003 and rides a nine-fight winning streak. A Brazilian jiu-jitsu brown belt, “Hellbound” has submitted seven of his 10 career victims and has seen the judges’ scorecards only twice as a professional.
