Abdul-Kerim Edilov, who was scheduled to make his Octagon debut last month, has been notified of a potential Anti-Doping Policy violation from an out-of-competition sample.

The UFC released a statement on the matter on Tuesday evening. As usual, the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency will handle the situation as it progresses. The substance for which Edilov tested positive was not revealed.

“USADA, the independent administrator of the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, will handle the results management and appropriate adjudication of this case,” the statement read. “It is important to note that, under the UFC Anti-Doping Policy,  there is a full and fair legal process that is afforded to all athletes before any sanctions are imposed. Additional information will be provided at the appropriate time as the process moves forward.”

Edilov was supposed to face Francimar Barroso at UFC Fight Night in Boston on Jan. 17, but was forced to withdraw from the light heavyweight contest. Elvis Mutapcic replaced Edilov and lost a unanimous decision to Barroso.

A native of Moscow, the 24-year-old Edilov is 16-4 since beginning his professional career in 2010. The Akhmat Fight Team representative has finished all but one of those victories inside the distance.
