The Lone Star State is becoming a popular destination for the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
The event will mark the fourth time the promotion has held an event in Austin. In 2010, UFC Fight Night 22 saw Nate Marquardt defeat Rousimar Palhares via first-round TKO, while the UFC Fight Night 57 main event in November 2014 saw Frankie Edgar submit Cub Swanson in the waning seconds of the fifth round. Finally, Donald Cerrone stopped Yancy Medeiros in the opening stanza of their featured bout at UFC Fight Night 126 in February 2018. All three Austin events were held at the Frank Erwin Center.
UFC Austin will be the organization’s third non-pay-per-view event held in front of a live audience after traveling to London for UFC Fight Night 204 on March 19 and to Columbus, Ohio, for UFC on ESPN 33 on March 26. The UFC has made regular trips to the Toyota Center in Houston for pay-per-view cards as part of a multi-event partnership with the venue.
