The 34-year-old UFC and Strikeforce veteran announced his decision via Facebook following a first-round technical knockout loss to Magomed Raisov at Absolute Championship Berkut in Chechnya on Saturday.

“Thanks everyone for your support. Disappointing performance to say the least,” Healy wrote. “I thought about this a lot recently and that was my last fight. I can no longer compete at a high level. It’s been a hell of a ride. I’ve gone places and seen things I never thought I would. I’ve had a chance to make friends and memories all over the world. MMA gave me a life I only could have dreamed of. I will now focus on helping the next generation become successful and finally getting my BJJ black belt.”

Healy exits MMA with a 34-24 mark with one no contest. He went winless in six UFC appearances, including a UFC 159 triumph over Jim Miller that was later overturned due to a positive marijuana test. Four of those losses came against the likes of Gleison Tibau, Jorge Masvidal, Bobby Green and Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Prior to that, Healy compiled a 7-1 mark in Strikeforce before the promotion folded. He also had stints in the International Fight League, Titan Fighting Championship and the WEC. Including Saturday’s bout, Healy lost three of his last four fights.
