UFC Vegas 107 ‘Blanchfield vs. Barber’ Play-by-Play, Results & Round Scoring

Sherdog's live UFC Vegas 107 coverage will begin Saturday at 6:30 p.m. ET. The event is also known as UFC on ESPN 68.

Rayanne dos Santos (116) vs. Alice Ardelean (115.5)

BETTING PREVIEW | SCOUTING REPORT | ODDS: dos Santos (-265), Ardelean (+215)

Round 1

After an essential recovery weekend from the UFC’s never-ending train of fight cards, the engines of the promotion rev up very slowly as the UFC Apex will be its first stop. This much-maligned fight card has fallen down to 10 bouts with a few catchweights and some missed opportunities for the fighters that needed them most. The action begins at 115 pounds, where a pair of ladies with 0-2 records in the promotion thus far vie for their first win. Whether it is dos Santos (14-8, 0-2 UFC) or Ardelean (9-7, 0-2 UFC) who gets their hand raised after the next possible 15 minutes of combat, referee Chris Tognoni will be the first to know. The strawweights touch ‘em up to signal respect towards one another, and then they let the fun begin. Ardelean leads off immediately behind a jab, and she walks dos Santos down and measures her with a one-two. Dos Santos stands her ground and slugs right back, clipping Ardelean with heavy hooks. Ardelean grins, wanting to trade leather, and the Brazilian is happy to oblige her. They take turns one after the other to engage their offense, with dos Santos landing cleaner but showing a bit of swelling on the side of her right eye. When dos Santos pushes off a kick, Ardelean counters her over the top. Ardelean swings right into a clinch, with dos Santos bullying her to the wall as Ardelean works the body with knees. The Romanian turns her foe around in the clinch, and she breaks off with an elbow that bangs into dos Santos’ face. Ardelean presses forward, looking for long, straight punches that are more far-reaching than the hooks dos Santos lobs back at her. They both land flush, and Ardelean shakes it off and comes out swinging with short combinations. Ardelean walks into a right hand, but she still connects a few strikes before backing off. Dos Santos has her right hand chambered ready to fire massive hooks, and Ardelean beats her to the punch with a one-two down the pipe. Ardelean laughs off a right hand to ding the Brazilian with a left, and dos Santos frowns and circles away to reset. Ardelean pitches out a few fastballs down the middle, and she rings dos Santos’ bell with one final combo before the bell.

Round 2

Ardelean marches forward to engage and start off the round, and when dos Santos counters, she ducks down and hits a takedown to put the Brazilian on the mat. Dos Santos pulls on the fence to work her way upright, and Ardelean is on her putting her fists in dos Santos’ face. Ardelean’s jab snaps the head back, and dos Santos responds with a double-leg takedown that runs into a Romanian wall. Dos Santos pushes off with her fingers out, and they jam into Ardelean’s eye socket. She says it is all good and asks Tognoni to let them continue. When given his blessing, she gets right back in dos Santos’ face, using her jab to do work. Dos Santos clubs her with a hook, but the volume discrepancy is growing as Ardelean chains punches in bunches. Dos Santos gets Ardelean’s attention, but this only makes her smile and spurs her on to brawl. Brawl is exactly what she does. Ardelean takes her foot off the gas before expending her tank, and goes back to measuring her opponent with jabs and follow-ups. Dos Santos steps in for an attempted trip and throw, but Ardelean’s base is too solid. Ardelean goes to the body with a right hand, and dos Santos responds with a left hook and a one-two that lands with an audible thud. Ardelean pushes off from a clinch setup, and she leans back to watch a massive right hand buzz by her. Dos Santos times a knee on the chin, and Ardelean no-sells it and quickly is able to defuse a takedown effort that follows. Ardelean plods forward, flicking the jab, and she smacks dos Santos with a low kick. When dos Santos swings high, Ardelean ducks and rips the body. Ardelean connects with a right hand, and she walks into one from the Brazilian that does not make her flinch. A three-punch combo from Ardelean lands on the last one, and she winds up and starts throwing heavier leather and knocks dos Santos back a few steps. Dos Santos tries for another takedown, and Ardelean shrugs it off and ignores a one-two on the chin as the horn sounds.

Round 3

The ladies get right to fighting in the final frame, where they reach the center of the cage and bang it out. Dos Santos leads with a jab, and Ardelean adds up several punches and surprises dos Santos. The Brazilian steels herself and puts everything she has into several power punches, and she lands them cleanly and still does not get her to back off. The right hands from dos Santos mark up Ardelean’s cheek, but she is just as in the fight as ever. Dos Santos keeps Ardelean honest with her firepower, with Ardelean just touching while dos Santos is winging shots. Ardelean’s jab is an effective tool at disrupting the looping blows, but not at stopping them. Dos Santos, who might know she is down on the scorecards, is giving it all she has. Dos Santos cracks her foe with a crisp one-two, and she lets Ardelean swing past her so she can keep hitting her. Punches from Ardelean make a wound that bleeds in the shape of a Joker smile on one side of her face, while Ardelean’s own face is starting to leak around her eyebrow. They show no concern for damage or defense, instead pounding on one another in an entertaining and action-packed manner. Ardelean smiles when she gets tagged, and as she confidently marches forward, dos Santos succeeds in taking her down. Ardelean gets to a knee, and she reverses a second effort from the Brazilian to find top position. Dos Santos kicks her off, and the two get back to their feet and resume their brawl. Dos Santos’ face is swollen and busted up, while Ardelean’s is not much better—although she has a smile that she cannot wipe off of her mug. Dos Santos keeps whipping that right hand, and Ardelean is a welcome recipient of it and is willing to give it back in spades. The two women throw hammers at one another, with Ardelean getting the better of the final exchange. Time expires, and the Romanian raises her arms in the air in expectation that she has done enough.

Michael Aswell (155) vs. Bolaji Oki (155.5)

BETTING PREVIEW | SCOUTING REPORT | ODDS: Oki (-375), Aswell (+300)

Round 1

Ever the internationally focused organization, where else can one find a tried-and-true Texan throwing down with a “Zulu Warrior” from Belgium? Right here in the Octagon is where it’s at, as “The Texas Kid” Aswell (10-2, 0-0 UFC) has made it to the promotion after riding the wave of Fury FC for a few years. He meets Oki (9-2, 1-1 UFC), who would like nothing more than to punch a hole in Aswell’s chest a la Ray Longo. The third man in the cage for this lightweight affair will be referee Herb Dean, who clocks the two in as they bump fists. It’s off to the races for these two, who quickly engage quickly with stern right hands. Oki sinks down a heavy low kick, and the two crash together. Oki backs off and pushes out a few jabs, and he swings a leg kick that makes him topple over. Aswell cannot reach him before he recovers, but he does walk Oki down and try to nail him with a right hand. Instead, it is Oki who clubs Aswell, with a nasty right hand followed by a left to the body. Oki does this again, walking through Aswell’s hammers that are swinging at the same time. Aswell calms himself down to toss out a few calf kicks, and he dodges a hook to clip Oki with a right hand. Oki shows no ill effects, and Aswell walks him down with his jab outstretched. Oki drills Aswell on the temple with a straight right hand, and Aswell busts him in the chops and may have hurt him for a second as Oki retreats. It does not take long for Oki to get back to lobbing bombs, and he mixes in a few body shots but gets popped on the way out. These two are trading effectively and flush on one another, and their chins are holding up at the three-minute mark but the pace may not be maintainable as they continue. The right hand from Oki splits a cut on the corner of Aswell’s left eyebrow, with the blood leaking into his eye slightly but not hampering his sight. Aswell still nails Oki with heavy hands, setting them up with jabs and knocking him back with a pair of rights. Aswell connects with another right, walks through a jab and fires off a right hook. Oki snaps his head back with a long jab, and his left hook to the belly finds its home a couple times. Both lightweights land hard at the end of the round, with Aswell knocking Oki back a step and possibly stealing the round with one concussive blow.

Tyler Treese scores the round: 10-9 Aswell

Round 2

A glove touch prompts the lightweights to get right in front of one another and punch. Oki backs him off with a step-in knee and tries to chain a high kick into it, but it is Aswell who stands firm and punches him square in the stomach. Oki sits down on big punches, but Aswell is able to roll with them just enough to not get his chin checked. Oki times another knee when Aswell steps in, and he slips back and tags Aswell as Aswell rushes at him. Oki measures several more body shots, and Aswell busts him in the chops with a right hand. Aswell fires off another right hook that snaps the head to the side, and Oki sticks his tongue out and puts three fists on Aswell’s face in rapid succession. Aswell lands a few punches, and Oki spins with a back kick to the belly. Aswell connects with two punches and is out of the way before getting countered, and he steps in and bops Oki in the chops with a left. Oki knocks him back thanks to his power punches, and he works a left to the ribs and a right up top. They both land at the same time, and Oki dodges an elbow to send Aswell retreating. Oki chains a knee into a right hand, and Aswell is tough as nails but is standing still when Oki puts hands on him. Aswell goes for two, and Oki’s lead jab and check hook to the damage. Oki knees his foe again, and he trips as he swings for the fences and recovers quickly. Oki takes a low kick on the calf and drills Aswell with a short combo, forcing the Texan to ricochet off the wall. Oki’s right hand further pounds Aswell on the jaw, and he jumps forward with a knee that flies past his foe on the bell.

Jay Pettry scores the round: 10-9 Oki
Brian Knapp scores the round: 10-9 Oki
Tyler Treese scores the round: 10-9 Oki

Round 3

One final glove touch kicks off the last round, and Oki starts off quickly with a jab and a chin-shaking right hand. Aswell displays near otherworldly durability as Oki is not taking it easy on him, but it is Oki in the driver’s seat. The power is substantially in his favor, and he has Aswell reacting to his strikes while he largely shrugs off the ones coming back his way. Even with Aswell’s likely higher volume, the right and left hooks from Oki are far more impactful. A few such hooks land on the chin, and Oki eats a counter, pats himself on the head to ask Aswell to bring it on and throws back. Oki leads off with his left hook, and three punches of his back Aswell up to the fence. Oki continue to chase after his opponent as Aswell is in retreat mode now, and he keeps his guard high to let Aswell’s swings bounce off him. Oki takes a hard right hand, and when Aswell doubles up his jab, Oki smiles at him and asks for more. Aswell obliges, but not before Oki clips him again hard. The strike totals are sky-high in this fight and the numbers are likely quite close, but Oki has figured out how to put volume together while still hitting Aswell harder than he gets hit back. Oki marks up Aswell’s left eye with his power right hand, and Aswell is looking for answers as his mighty swings seem to have no effect on the Belgian. Oki walks into and through a right hand, and he winds up with three hearty swings that bounce Aswell’s head around. Oki is determined to swing it out to the bell, and he does just that.

Kurt Holobaugh (156) vs. Jordan Leavitt (155.5)

BETTING PREVIEW | SCOUTING REPORT | ODDS: Leavitt (-192), Holobaugh (+160)

Round 1

Sticking to the lightweight division, two men who have alternated wins and losses in their last four could use the W to reverse their fortunes a bit. Holobaugh (21-9, 1 NC; 2-6 UFC) may need this one to stick around in his second stint with the promotion, while “The Monkey King” Leavitt (11-3, 4-3 UFC) could have a little wiggle room should he not prevail. With Dana White’s Contender Series right around the corner, who knows how many defeated competitors will be off the roster come Monday. Referee Mike Beltran will take charge of the cage for as long as this one lasts, and it commences with a swift glove touch. Leavitt springs from side to side as Holobaugh advances towards him, and he pushes out a front kick to set up a takedown. Within seconds, “The Monkey King” wrangles Holobaugh to the mat, where he climbs from side control to half guard to exert heavy top pressure. Holobaugh scoots his way to the fence and gets to a knee, and Leavitt wrenches him back down to the mat and takes his back in a hurry. Holobaugh tries to scramble, and Leavitt slams him down on his face. Holobaugh looks to turn the corner by going after a single on Leavitt, but Leavitt counters with a guillotine choke and transitions it to an anaconda choke and wraps it up tight. Holobaugh relaxes, possibly too much, and this allows Leavitt to turn him to his back and grip the choke all the way. Leavitt wraps his left leg up and around Holobaugh’s arm to prevent him from defending the submission, and Holobaugh’s efforts are quickly in vain as he goes out cold. Beltran sees this and intervenes, and Holobaugh wakes up and is upset with Beltran until he learns that he got choked out. This was quick work for the returning Leavitt, who gets his hand raised for the first time in over two years.

The Official Result

Jordan Leavitt def. Kurt Holobaugh R1 1:39 via Technical Submission (Anaconda Choke)

Jafel Filho (126) vs. Allan Nascimento (127.5: Missed Weight)

BETTING PREVIEW | SCOUTING REPORT | ODDS: Nascimento (-155), Filho (+130)

Round 1

To say it has been a rough road for Nascimento (20-6, 2-1 UFC) in the UFC thus far is understatement of the year. With canceled fights on either side of the equation, the Chute Boxe Diego Lima product has only fought three times since making his UFC debut in 2021. Before he faces Filho (16-3, 2-1 UFC), he will give his fellow countryman 20% of his purse for missing the flyweight cap by a pound and a half. When the dust settles, one of these two will find their two-fight win streak fall by the wayside. Referee Chris Tognoni is prepped and ready for whoever that may be, and he bears witness to a glove touch to begin the melee. Filho takes the center of the cage, with Nascimento circling around him offering jabs and a slapping calf kick. Filho dodges a second kick and whiffs on one of his own, and he walks through a low kick to load up on a right hand. Nascimento sticks and moves with kicks, and he switches up with a body kick from the other limb. Filho crashes the pocket to slow the heavier fighter down, kneeing him in the stomach and cup before trying to throw him to the mat. Nascimento keeps his balance but is absorbing knees to the midsection, with Filho quickly using a knee to set up a trip a couple times to no avail. Filho grabs the fence to keep himself upright when Nascimento looks for his own takedown, and he uses momentum to spin Nascimento to the ground. Filho steps into full mount as soon as he claims top position, and he looks for an arm-triangle choke but cannot get it before Nascimento scrambles madly to get to his feet. Filho mat returns him fairly quickly, and he gets hold of a body lock and starts fishing for a rear-naked choke. Filho flattens his foe out and starts driving down right hands while Nascimento scrambles, posturing up to either land a strike or hunt for another choke. When he puts Nascimento on his back again, Filho quickly sets up an arm-triangle choke. Nascimento turns the proper direction to thwart the choke, and he sits up into a guillotine choke. Filho has the mounted guillotine locked up tight with one arm, and Nascimento kicks and bucks with all his might to keep himself in the fight. Filho lets go right before the bell.

Jay Pettry scores the round: 10-9 Filho
Brian Knapp scores the round: 10-9 Filho
Tyler Treese scores the round: 10-9 Filho

Round 2

The countrymen touch gloves, and Filho is again the aggressor in the center of the cage pushing forward. He slugs Nascimento in the chops and changes levels for a takedown, only for the taller man to shut him down on his first effort. Nascimento jumps for a knee, and Filho thanks him for this by slinging him to the mat. Nascimento returns to his feet fairly quickly, with Filho pressing heavily on his side and back. Nascimento grabs the fence a few times, keeping himself from being taken down because of it. As soon as he releases it, Filho throws him to the mat and starts searching for a short choke. Nascimento slides him out the back and flips Filho over, where he moves to side control and pushes his chest flat on top of Filho’s. Nascimento squeezes on Filho’s head with his shoulder, and he flirts with an arm-triangle choke while Filho is boxing his ears. Nascimento steps over to try to mount his foe, and when he does not get it, he pursues the arm-triangle. With Filho wise to it, Nascimento is bucked back to half guard. Nascimento stays as heavy as possible, and he grips Filho’s left arm in pursuit of some armlock that does not come together. Filho gets to a knee, and Nascimento tackles him back down to the ground. Filho reasserts butterfly hooks until Nascimento slashes him with an elbow that allows him to step back into half guard. Nascimento drills his man with another nasty elbow, and Filho defends most additional efforts. One or two more elbows land from Nascimento until the round concludes.

Sherdog Scores

Jay Pettry scores the round: 10-9 Nascimento
Brian Knapp scores the round: 10-9 Nascimento
Tyler Treese scores the round: 10-9 Nascimento

Round 3

The two hug it out to open the last round, and it most likely is all up for grabs here. Filho leads the dance once more, sticking Nascimento first with a long left hand and a right to follow. Nascimento backs him off with a body kick, and Filho responds with a left to the liver and stonewalls Nascimento who is after a takedown. Filho turns the effort against him, dragging Nascimento to the mat and sneaking around to take his back. “Pastor” wraps up his man in an awkward way, stretching Nascimento’s arms over his head while torqueing his midsection. There is no submission to be had here, and he slowly finds himself sliding off the back again. Nascimento flips him over with a burst of energy, and he asserts top position and hunts for an arm-triangle choke. Filho’s mad scrambles keep him safe from getting submitted, sitting up even with Nascimento on his back with an arm draped around his shoulder. Filho is warned for grabbing the inside of his foe’s glove to defend the submission, and Nascimento wriggles his arm and looks for a neck crank when there is no rear-naked choke. Nascimento commits to it, and Filho smartly hand-fights to relieve the pressure. Nascimento slugs Filho in the side of the head a few times to open up another submission possibility, and he remains on top when Filho flails his legs wildly. Nascimento controls from behind even as Filho stands up, and he wraps a leg around Filho’s in hopes of dragging him back down. Filho spins around, is warned for fence grabs, and is tripped down to the canvas. Nascimento takes his back once more with hooks in, and secures a body triangle and a neck crank at the same time. Filho stays calm in the face of submission efforts and lets Nascimento tire himself out trying. Nascimento hacks with elbows to the top of Filho’s head and also to the back of his head, with fouls uncalled on every side in this grappling match. The fight ends with Nascimento hanging on from behind.

Zachary Reese (185) vs. Dusko Todorovic (186)

BETTING PREVIEW | SCOUTING REPORT | ODDS: Reese (-238), Todorovic (+195)

Round 1

The prelims were short at just four bouts, and the main card kicks off with a middleweight action fight that practically promises that referee Herb Dean will get involved before too long. Reese (8-2, 2-2 UFC) and Todorovic (12-5, 3-5 UFC) combine for 18 stoppages in their 20 pro wins, with knockouts their preferred method of victory. Before they try to lop one another’s head off, the two 185ers bump fists. Reese introduces himself with a body kick, and Todorovic does the same. Todorovic doubles up on a kick with another and shoots for a takedown. Reese scrambles and finds his way on top, with Todorovic sitting up for a guillotine choke. Reese lifts Todorovic up and tosses him down, and Todorovic mounts him with the guillotine intact. Reese fights his way through it, his neck still in jeopardy, and he works his way to his feet. Todorovic uses the choke to maintain control and impose his weight, and lowers Reese down to the ground to knee him in the side. When Reese gets up, Todorovic muscles him back to his knees. The Texan explodes back to his feet, kneeing his man in the gut and fighting off a trip to thump “Thunder” with a hard shoulder strike. Reese backs off and avoids a pair of hooks, fires off a head kick that misses the mark and resets. Todorovic charges at him with a swarm of fists, and Reese blocks most of them and gives one back until he gets clinched. Todorovic trips Reese out, and when Todorovic stands above him, Reese searches for a leglock. Todorovic fights it off, and he ignores an upkick on the side of the dome so he can lower himself down to top position. Reese closes his guard, and he hacks with elbows off his back. Todorovic responds with a few right hands from above, and he elbows down to club “Savage” a few times. Todorovic stacks his man up and unleashes nasty hammerfists that drill into his foe’s jaw again and again. The horn sounds.

Jay Pettry scores the round: 10-9 Todorovic

Tyler Treese scores the round: 10-9 Todorovic

Round 2

A glove touch begins the second round, where Reese wants to start off hot and cracks Todorovic with a three-punch combo. Reese reaches his man with a fierce right hand, forcing Todorovic to engage a clinch. Reese breaks away and slaps his foe in the ribs with a kick. When Todorovic shoots for a takedown, Reese counters him with an uppercut but does not break his stride. They share short strikes on one another, and Reese leans back and drives a knee to the stomach that allows him to break off. Todorovic fakes a right hand to shoots for an awkward takedown, and Reese ignores it and counters with an overhand right. Reese stands firm with a one-two on the chin, walking through a body kick to jump at him with a knee. When he misses, Todorovic offers him a high-five. Reese leans back to avoid an overhand right, and Todorovic grabs hold of him and bullies him to the wall. Reese breaks free and catches Todorovic coming in with a short left, but it is one-and-done as he chambers and fires a body kick. What follow is a front kick, and an evasive maneuver when Todorovic rushes him. Todorovic fakes high for a level change, and Reese tosses him aside and wings a right hand and puts a front kick on the chest. Todorovic shoots for and lands a takedown, and Reese defends with a guillotine choke, only to find himself in Von Preux choke danger. Todorovic stacks him up rather than looking for the counter sub, and this lets Reese burst upright to get up. Todorovic stays pressed to him, ripping the body with a few punches and getting uppercutted for his handiwork. The two clinch up and end the round.

Round 3

The fighters walk towards one another cautiously to start off the final frame, offering a glove touch and getting back to swinging. Reese loops wider shots, but when they land, they do with audible thuds. Todorovic gets him back with a couple of calf kicks, and Reese splits his guard with a long left hand. Reese twirls Todorovic around when the Serbian fighter shoots in on the hips, and he chains a few punches behind it. When Todorovic scores, Reese clubs him with a right on the ear. Reese spins with a kick to the body, and Todorovic smiles and high-fives him. Reese gathers himself and boots his man in the body and tries one up high, while Todorovic’s volume has plummeted. Reese stays on the outside potshotting his foe with body kicks, and when Todorovic charges him, Reese is light on his feet popping him here and there. Todorovic lashes out with a right hand that busts open Reese’s nose, and Reese responds with a leaping takedown shot that is stonewalled. Todorovic sweeps the leg and connects with another power right hand, using the strikes to set up a takedown. Reese gets pushed to the wall and spins out, sneaking a knee to the body on his way out. Todorovic looks for one final takedown, and Reese stops it and uppercuts him a few times before the grueling match concludes.

Ketlen Vieira (146) vs. Macy Chiasson (144)

BETTING PREVIEW | SCOUTING REPORT | ODDS: Chiasson (-118), Vieira (-102)

Round 1

What was once a likely bantamweight title eliminator has become a featherweight fight of little import, thanks to Vieira (14-4, 8-4 UFC) being unable to get down to the 136-pound limit. Chiasson (10-3, 8-3 UFC), with eyes to the future, gladly accepts 25% of Vieira’s purse before getting to punch her in the face for her transgression. Referee Mark Smith stands by to keep things on the up-and-up, although the match still opens with the ladies clapping hands first. Vieira takes to the center of the Octagon, with Chiasson circling around her probing her with low kicks and jabs. The Louisiana native manages her distance well, staying active and not letting Vieira strike her. Chiasson fires up a head kick, and uses it as a way to open a left hand up. Vieira looks to counter, but Chiasson is out of range from everything besides a pair of body shots. Vieira sits down on a right hand, shaking Chiasson up a little and forcing her to reset. Chiasson goes for a spinning wheel kick that misses the mark significantly, and Vieira tracks her down and smashes her in the face with a ferocious right hand. Chiasson wears it well but is not a fan, scooting out of the way before Vieira can pin her down again. Chiasson prods the body with jabs and kicks, and Vieira counters with a right hand over the top. Vieira connects with a few fast hands, and when Chiasson clinches, she lays into her with another flurry of blows. Both women try to land elbows from up close, but they sway just enough to let them soar past one another. Vieira bullies Chiasson against the fencing, and Chiasson slowly but methodically fights her way out while using a knee to get some space. Vieira pushes her close again and back to the wall, and she punches her way out rather than glom on to the taller woman. Chiasson chips at the front leg a few times, and she catches Vieira on the temple with a long right hand. Vieira scores a combo of punches to end the round.

Sherdog Scores

Jay Pettry scores the round: 10-9 Vieira
Brian Knapp scores the round: 10-9 Vieira
Tyler Treese scores the round: 10-9 Vieira

Round 2

The moment gloves are touched, Chiasson shoots in for a takedown. Vieira’s defense spikes them both on their faces, and she recovers just the faster to turn to the side to establish top position. The Brazilian hops a few times to get herself in the conventional guard, but she is intent on passing to somewhere better and clinging to an arm-triangle choke setup. Chiasson is wise to it and she fights back with elbows and even flirts with an armbar setup, but she is stifled when Vieira stays flatly pressed to her. Chiasson pushes off the hips, and she turns to a knee but inadvertently gives up her back. As she rolls, Chiasson finds herself still in Vieira’s clutches. Vieira gets herself back on top in the guard, smothering the American while not otherwise utilizing much offense. Vieira lands punches every so often, preferring to rack up control time while shutting down anything Chiasson can do. Chiasson slashes off her back with her elbow, and she scores two more when Vieira postures up. Vieira rides out the remainder of the round on top.

Sherdog Scores

Jay Pettry scores the round: 10-9 Vieira
Brian Knapp scores the round: 10-9 Vieira
Tyler Treese scores the round: 10-9 Vieira

Round 3

Before the third round begins, Smith calls in a cutman to slice the tape off of Vieira’s glove. The two touch gloves, and Chiasson comes out shot out of a cannon. Punching her way into a single, Chiasson finds that the Brazilian is not about to go down and falls to her back. Vieira establishes herself on top again, and she embraces the grind immediately. It does not take Smith long to ask for more activity, with Vieira content to work the body with short strikes and remain busy enough to keep her position. Vieira sits up and drills Chiasson with a pair of punches that lead her corner to hoot and holler, and Chiasson fails to employ butterfly hooks to get some space. Vieira’s smothering ground control is sucking the energy out of the building, and when Chiasson attempts to escape, the Brazilian is there to shut her down completely. Smith again asks for Vieira to do more, and it is Chiasson who does some damage with a vicious elbow that rips open a cut on Vieira’s forehead. Chiasson uses the moment to explode to her feet, where she starts laying into Vieira with punches and elbows. Vieira tries to clinch, and Chiasson bails on it and leaps at her with lunging punches and kicks. Chiasson drills the Brazilian with exhausted one-twos, and her late onslaught may sway a judge or two because of the damage inflicted. The not-so-thrilling fight comes to an end.

Dustin Jacoby (205) vs. Bruno Lopes (206)

BETTING PREVIEW | SCOUTING REPORT | ODDS: Jacoby (-185), Lopes (+154)

Round 1

Fists and feet are about to meet faces as Jacoby (20-9-1, 8-6-1 UFC) and Lopes (14-1, 1-0 UFC) slug it out for three rounds or fewer. Despite the two being five years apart, this could be a passing of the torch moment should the younger Lopes prevail. Referee Mike Beltran is the Octagon ranger for this stand-up showcase. The fighters touch ‘em up, and Lopes is the aggressor out of the gate lumbering forward to attack. He pulls back several times before committing to something, when he finally settles on a leg kick. Lopes connects with a second on the calf, and he digs a left to the body and misses a right over the top. Jacoby gathers his thoughts and pierces the guard with a jab that shakes Lopes to his core, and instead of punishing him with more, he wings a few punches that wind him up in the guard. Jacoby finds a small amount of space and tags Lopes with an elbow, and he unloads with a few punches from up close. Lopes tries all he might to survive and regain his legs, but Jacoby does not let him off the hook. After Jacoby lands two hooks, Lopes fires back in a brief exchange reminiscent of Frye vs. Takayama. “The Hanyak” hits harder, and Lopes reels every time he absorbs a blow. Jacoby nearly lifts his foe off the ground with an uppercut, and he continues battering the in-trouble Lopes with a flurry of punches. Jacoby lets go with everything he has, and Lopes is only on his feet because the fence is behind him. The final assault from the former Glory kickboxer puts Lopes down for the count, and Beltran waves the fight off with Lopes unaware of where he is. Jacoby lets loose a guttural scream to expel all of his remaining emotions, and he goes over to embrace his corner.

The Official Result

Dustin Jacoby def. Bruno Lopes R1 1:50 via KO (Punches)

Billy Goff (170) vs. Ramiz Brahimaj (171)

BETTING PREVIEW | SCOUTING REPORT | ODDS: Goff (-340), Brahimaj (+270)

Round 1

After a wild wheel of opponent changes, Connecticut native Goff (9-3, 1-1 UFC) finds himself slotted into a New England vs. New York rivalry match when he takes on Bronx native—by way of Texas—Brahimaj (11-5, 3-3 UFC). The styles could scarcely be more different, as Goff prefers to club opponents in the dome while Brahimaj is a submission practitioner above all else. Something might have to give before it is all over, and referee Chris Tognoni will know when that will be. The featured welterweights of the night do not greet one another with a fist bump before handling their business. Instead, it is Brahimaj who follows the New Englander around the cage, with neither man engaging for the first 30 seconds other than a few inaccurate rangefinders. Brahimaj shoots for a double, and he easily lifts Goff up and lowers him to the ground. Goff returns to a knee, but Brahimaj has his hands clasped around the waist. Goff turns to try to get Brahimaj off of him, but this only allows Brahimaj to secure his hooks. Goff posts off his hands and tries to shuck Brahimaj off of him, and Brahimaj stands up just in time to not fall off the back. Goff is able to turn Brahimaj around and break out of back control, where he promptly elbows the Fortis MMA fighter in the jaw. Goff settles down in the clinch rather than backing off to trade, pressing his full body weight on the grappler. Brahimaj jumps guard for a guillotine choke, and he bails on it to secure a ninja choke that is crushingly tight in an instant. Goff tries to turn his way around to free his neck, but the power guillotine/front choke/ninja choke is not going anywhere. The power guillotine completely deprives Goff of his consciousness, who is out cold before he can tap out. Brahimaj knows that his foe is out, and he lets him go as Goff’s head lifelessly clatters off the cage floor. Medical professionals swarm the cage to tend to Goff, who does not come to immediately. As they turn him the right direction and administer the smelling salts—figuratively—he comes back around. Brahimaj walks to the commentary booth, where he informs color commentator that Daniel Cormier changed his life.

The Official Result

Ramiz Brahimaj def. Billy Goff R1 3:16 via Technical Submission (Guillotine Choke)

Mateusz Gamrot (156) vs. Ludovit Klein (156)

BETTING PREVIEW | SCOUTING REPORT | ODDS: Gamrot (-166), Klein (+140)

Round 1

From a rankings and championship perspective, this lightweight co-main might place the winner higher on the “who does the UFC call for the next shot at a belt” list than any other match on the card. Gamrot (24-3, 1 NC; 7-3 UFC) is aiming to bounce back from a close loss to Dan Hooker, while Klein (23-4-1, 7-2-1 UFC) has not lost since moving to 155 pounds and is facing undoubtedly the toughest test of his career. In this classic Poland vs. Slovakia matchup, referee Herb Dean draws the charge. Before the intensity swells to a fever pitch, the fighters tap gloves together. Gamrot chases after the kickboxer almost immediately, putting pressure on him and catching him with a lunging right hand and a low kick. Gamrot wings a right hand over the top, and Klein rolls with it. Gamrot connects with another punch-kick combo, sweeping Klein’s leg but not tripping him up. Gamrot kicks up high and continues pressing ahead, with a punch drawing a smile out of Klein. “Gamer” has a head kick slap off the chest, and his keeping Klein on the back foot has held Klein to throwing much. When Klein does commit to a strike, he wobbles Gamrot to his knees with a single jab. Gamrot gets his bearing and trips on his way in, shooting for a single and pushing Klein to the wall. Gamrot successfully sits Klein down with his level change, and Klein works to a knee with Gamrot at his back. Klein is warned for grabbing the fence to help him upright, and Gamrot continues to exude heavy pressure from behind. Gamrot opens up with a number of right hands when he finds an avenue to attack, and he trips Klein’s legs out when Klein gets back up. Gamrot wrenches him down and knees him in the ribs a few times. One knee lands on the spine, and it does not receive a warning. Gamrot controls and puts his weight on the Slovakian, where he wraps a number of right hands around the guard. Gamrot hammers the body with additional knees, pounding on the ribs until he elects to drag Klein away from the fencing. Gamrot loops a hook in, where he hangs on until the horn sounds.

Jay Pettry scores the round: 10-9 Gamrot
Brian Knapp scores the round: 10-9 Gamrot
Tyler Treese scores the round: 10-9 Gamrot

Round 2

After the glove touch, Gamrot gets right back on the accelerator backing Klein up. Klein sits down with a kick to the side, and Gamrot grins as he uses the moment to take Klein down. In Klein’s guard, Gamrot hangs out dropping down strikes when available. Klein retaliates with heel kicks that land on Gamrot’s spine, making Dean warn him for this strike. Gamrot stacks his man up and rails him with standing-to-ground right hands, and he leaps into half guard. Gamrot presses his weight down on an arm-triangle hold, using it to keep position rather than pursue submission. Klein desperately stays busy with flailing elbows while horizontal, and Gamrot practically ignores them so he can step back over to half guard. Gamrot holds onto Klein’s ankle when Klein looks to scramble, and the Polish fighter floats over to get back on top. Gamrot beats on his opponent while on top, with his offense active enough to not draw a warning from Dean. Klein is complacent to keep striking back, but Gamrot’s blows are substantially heavier. Gamrot even uses a can opener on the back of Klein’s neck to break open his guard, and this forces Gamrot to his feet. Klein uses bicycle kicks to keep Gamrot off of him, only to backwards somersault and find Gamrot on his back. Klein works his way to the fencing and one knee before standing up, and both men throw head kicks before breaking. Gamrot drives a one-two down the pipe, and Klein comes after him only to eat another right hand on the jaw. Klein pitches out a few kicks, including a spin kick that misses the mark, and Gamrot evades them and pecks out with a right hand before the round ends.

Sherdog Scores

Jay Pettry scores the round: 10-9 Gamrot
Brian Knapp scores the round: 10-9 Gamrot
Tyler Treese scores the round: 10-9 Gamrot

Round 3

Almost certainly down on the scorecards, Klein rushes out of his corner aggressively and starts throwing kicks. Gamrot responds with a few and catches him with a right hand, and he shoots in for a double. Klein stuffs it and gets up, where he uses his distance strikes to keep Gamrot at bay. Klein scores a body kick and a left hand over the top, and Gamrot counters but is more inclined on grappling. Klein intercepts a takedown with a knee to the chest, and it stops Gamrot well enough. Klein gets back to walking the ranked man down, where they fire off kicks at the other. Gamrot may be fading as he looks to the clock, but it might be a little sandbagging as he drills Klein with a right hand and a few sharp jabs. Klein responds with a head kick that just brushes off the guard, and Gamrot drives him back with two hard right hands. Klein’s left hand misses, but his body kick does not. Gamrot looks for an uppercut, and Klein lances him with a left hand that makes Gamrot think twice about his approach. Nevertheless, it is Gamrot who strikes first, and he keeps Klein honest with punch combinations. Gamrot lands a jab and a right hand, and Klein doubles up on kicks. Gamrot shoots for a single, and on his second effort, he puts “Mr. Highlight” on his back. Gamrot, comfortably in the guard, drums on Klein with punches and hammerfists. Gamrot advances his position, and Klein retaliates by rolling over. Gamrot bowls him back over again, this time getting to side control where he can drop down strikes and even wrap up Klein’s right arm in a potential crucifix. Gamrot continues clobbering his opponent from position, beating the Slovakian down with punches and elbows until the final second. When the bell rings, Gamrot and his foe embrace, happy that their 15-minute endeavor has come to a close.
