Danish MMA Night has big plans to highlight local mixed martial arts talent to the world. The new promotion has announced its debut event for June 9, and has already penned three time Ultimate Fighting Championship veteran Christian Colombo and former Invicta Fighting Championships title challenger Pannie Kianzad.
Colombo won his first eight of nine bouts before getting signed to the UFC in 2016. The 38-year-old had three fights in the Octagon over the last two years, resulting in a draw and two losses. The future of the fighter was uncertain after his recent release, but by signing to the upstart "Godzilla" made his intentions clear. “I think it's very natural after my last two fights to think about retirement, but right now the focus is on getting the knockout on June 9.”
The Danish heavyweight will face fellow countryman Nick Barno in the headlining bout at Brondby Hallen in Denmark. The “True Dane” has won six of eight. "It's time to get out of the shadows and figure out who is the best heavyweight in Denmark."
Former Invicta title challenger Kianzad has also signed on to fight in the debut event. The Sweden-raised “Banzai” fights locally out of Copenhagen’s Arte Suave and will try to stop a three fight losing streak after winning her first 8 bouts. No opponent has been announced for the four-time Invicta vet. It will be her first professional action in Denmark.
