UFC Veteran Garcia Replaces Forbes at TPF 8
Brian Knapp Jan 24, 2011
UFC veteran Edgar
Garcia (Pictured) will lock horns with Mike Moreno
in a featured matchup at Tachi Palace Fights 8 “All or Nothing” on
Feb. 18 at the Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino in Lemoore, Calif.
Garcia replaces “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 3 semi-finalist
Jesse
Forbes, who withdrew from the event due to injury.
Garcia last appeared at a Latin American Fighter show in December, when he submitted Alejandro Velasquez with a second-round triangle choke in Mexico. The Arizona-based 26-year-old was released by the UFC following consecutive defeats to Brad Blackburn and “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 9 finalist DaMarques Johnson. Garcia has secured seven of his eight career victories by knockout, technical knockout or submission. Wins over Strikeforce veteran Waylon Kennell and former World Extreme Cagefighting welterweight title contender Hiromitsu Miura anchor his resume.
A WEC veteran, Moreno will carry a two-fight winning streak into
the match. However, he has not fought since earning a unanimous
decision over Gary
Padilla under the War Gods banner nearly two years ago. Three
of his six career appearances have ended inside one round.
Tachi Palace Fights 8 will feature title bouts in the middleweight and flyweight divisions, as Leopoldo Serao meets David Loiseau and Ulysses Gomez squares off with Darrell Montague. In addition, the world’s top-ranked flyweight, Jussier da Silva, will collide with Ian McCall.
