The Combate Americas organization on Friday returned to the mixed martial arts scene with an action-packed event at Casino del Sol in Tucson, Arizona.

The Combate Americas 46 main event saw Ultimate Fighting Championship veteran Joby Sanchez take on Jose Alday across three rounds at 135 pounds. The entertaining slugfest went the distance, with the judges turning in a unanimous verdict for Sanchez. All three scored it 29-28.

Meanwhile, Anthony Birchak squared off with Alliance MMA’s Erik Radleim. Birchak managed to jump on his counterpart’s back after a kick, as he took the back with a body lock while still upright. He then cinched the standing rear-naked choke, giving Radleim no choice but to tap out. The end came at 1:40 of Round 1.

Finally, Valerie Quintero made her professional debut against Lucero Acosta in a catchweight affair at 140 pounds. It went all three rounds, and while both women did decent work in the standup department, Acosta dictated where the fight went, overcame some takedowns and established dominant position on several occasions. All three judges saw it 30-27 for Acosta.
