Quick finishes stole the show at UFC on ESPN 10, as the promotion awarded $50,000 “Performance of the Night” bonuses to Marvin Vettori, Mariya Agapova, Tyson Nam and Christian Aguilera at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas on Saturday night.
It was the second consecutive week that no “Fight of the Night” was selected by the Las Vegas-based organization.
Vettori showcased his grappling and wrestling in a middleweight grudge match against Karl Roberson in the evening’s co-main event. “The Italian Dream” softened his foe with ground-and-pound before securing a tapout via rear-naked choke at the 4:17 mark of Round 1.
Elsewhere, Contender Series alum Mariya Agapova was dominant against Hannah Cifers at flyweight. Agapova connected with hard straight punches early before dropping her foe with a head kick and then transitioning to back control for a fight-ending rear-naked choke 2:42 into the first period.
Nam earned his first UFC win in impressive fashion, knocking out newcomer Zarrukh Adashev 32 seconds into the first round of a bantamweight crap. Nam countered a low kick from his foe with an overhand right that dropped his foe instantly. One follow-up blow brought an abrupt end to the contest.
Finally, Christian Aguilera made short work of fellow newcomer Anthony Ivy in the evening’s opening bout to capture the final performance bonus. A right hand behind the ear put Ivy on wobbly legs, and Aguilera brought a halt to the bout with a series of power punches 59 seconds into Round 1.
