The Ultimate Fighting Championship will put on its final Las Vegas event before it moves to “Fight Island” next month, and all 10 fights are official as everyone has made their proper marks.
UFC on ESPN 12 is headlined by an important lightweight scrap between former interim champ Dustin Poirier and Dan Hooker. While Poirier (25-6, 1 NC) came up short against Khabib Nurmagomedov in his last fight, he’s been on a tear in the division picking up wins over the likes of Max Holloway, Eddie Alvarez, Justin Gaethje and Anthony Pettis. “The Diamond” will look to add the New Zealand native to his list of impressive victories as he works to gain another title opportunity in the future. Ever the professional, Poirier had no issues making weight and came in at 156 pounds.
This marks the second main event in a row for Hooker (20-8), who is coming off a split decision win over Paul Felder. “The Hangman” is on a three-fight win streak as he also toppled Al Iaquinta and James Vick after losing to Edson Barboza. This is the biggest fight in Hooker’s career, who he looked prepared on the scales and weighed 155.5 pounds.
UFC on ESPN 12 will air in its entirety on both ESPN+ and ESPN on Saturday. The prelims begin at 6 p.m. ET/3 p.m. PT and the main card will kick off at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.
