Not one but two Ultimate Fighting Championship fighters came in well above their respective limits at the weigh-ins.

The UFC returns to the UFC Apex in Las Vegas with a clash between light heavyweight contenders.UFC on ESPN 23 sees Dominick Reyes look to rebound from the first two losses of his career against the streaking Jiri Prochazka. Both fighters atop the card had no issue making weight, but the same couldn’t be said for a few others on the card. The most notable miss was Gabriel Benitez missing the featherweight limit by 4.5 pounds. Also heavy was Luana Carolina, who failed to hit the flyweight mark by 2.5 pounds.

Reyes (12-2) was undefeated before dropping a controversial decision to former light heavyweight king Jon Jones. After that defeat, "The Devastator" jumped into a bout for the vacant belt against Jan Blachowicz but was knocked out in the second round. Before these setbacks, Reyes had strung together wins over Chris Weidman, Volkan Oezdemir and Ovince St. Preux. Reyes stepped on the scales at 205.5 pounds.

Czech Republic's Prochazka (27-3-1) hasn't tasted defeat since getting knocked out by Muhammed Lawal in 2015. His 11-fight win streak saw him avenge his last defeat, win the Rizin Fighting Federation light heavyweight championship and make his successful Octagon debut against Oezdemir. "Denisa" officially weighed 204 pounds for his first UFC main event.

UFC on ESPN 23’s main card will air live on ESPN2 starting at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT, while the prelims will stream via ESPN+ at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT.
