UFC on ESPN 4 Bonuses: Walt Harris Banks $50K for Swift Knockout Victory

It was a short night at the office for Walt Harris, the third-fastest in UFC heavyweight history to be exact. That didn’t make it any less lucrative.

Harris earned a $50,000 “Performance of the Night” bonus for his 12-second knockout of Alexey Oleynik in the UFC on ESPN 4 co-main event in San Antonio on Saturday night. “The Big Ticket” crumpled his foe with a flying knee and a straight left hand, a combination that made the Russian’s leg bend beneath him at an awkward angle. From there, Harris polished off his win with follow up punches to end the contest just 12 seconds after it began.

Dan Hooker captured the evening’s other $50,000 “Performance of the Night” check for a first-round stoppage of James Vick in a featured lightweight tilt. Hooker dropped Vick with a vicious left hook and finished off the Texan with three standing-to-ground punches at the 2:33 mark of the frame for his fifth victory in six outings.

Elsewhere, bantamweights Mario Bautista and Jin Soo Son received “Fight of the Night” honors and $50,000 apiece for a spirited preliminary showdown. The combatants traded liberally throughout the three-round affair, combining for 224 significant strikes. Ultimately, Bautista emerged with a unanimous decision triumph.
