This marks the third UFC main event for Perez (25-8), who recently snapped a three-fight losing streak by knocking out Matheus Nicolau in vicious fashion earlier this year. The 32-year-old is staying busy as this is his third fight of 2024. Perez officially stepped on the scale weighing 126 pounds exactly.
Meanwhile, the undefeated Taira has a sterling 15-0 record. Totally unblemished, the 24-year-old will face his toughest fight yet as he's taking a significant step up in competition. The Japanese fighter is 5-0 inside the Octagon and most recently picked up wins over Edgar Chairez and Carlos Hernandez. The Okinawa native officially weighs 126 pounds on the dot for his first UFC main event.
UFC on ESPN 58's prelims will stream on ESPN2 and ESPN+ at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT on Saturday. Then the main card will kick off on ESPN2 and ESPN+ at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT.
