UFC on FX 3 Main Card Draws 1.1 Million Viewers to FX; Prelims Attract 84,000 to Fuel TV

UFC on FX 3 drew an average of 1.1 million viewers to FX on Friday night, while the event’s preliminary card averaged 84,000 viewers on Fuel TV, according to industry sources.

UFC on FX 3 took place at BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Fla., and was headlined by the flyweight tournament rematch between Demetrious Johnson and Ian McCall. The ratings represented a decrease from the March UFC on FX 2 event, which attracted an average of 1.4 million observers to the Fox-owned network. The UFC on FX 2 prelims also generated higher ratings, drawing an audience of 113,000 to Fuel. The initial UFC on FX card netted an average of 1.3 million viewers in January, with the Fuel TV prelims drawing 148,000 viewers.

Johnson battled to a hard-fought unanimous decision over McCall on Friday to earn a 125-pound title shot against Joseph Benavidez at a later date. Also, rising prospect Erick Silva scored a first-round submission victory over Charlie Brenneman in a welterweight affair. The six-bout preliminary card was capped by Mike Pierce’s split-decision triumph against Carlos Eduardo Rocha.
