Umar Nurmagomedov to Make Octagon Debut vs. Hunter Azure at UFC 249

Khabib Nurmagomedov’s cousin has a date and opponent for his Ultimate Fighting Championship debut.

The Las Vegas-based promotion recently announced that Umar Nurmagomedov will square off against Hunter Azure in a bantamweight bout at UFC 249 on April 18. On that same card, Khabib will defend his 155-pound belt against Tony Ferguson in the evening’s main event. UFC 249 takes place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., and airs on pay-per-view following prelims on ESPN+ and ESPN.

Umar Nurmagomedov has kicked off his professional tenure with 12 consecutive triumphs. The Dagestani fighter has competed in promotions such as Professional Fighters League and Fight Nights Global and has finished six of his victories inside the distance.

A competitor on Season 3 of Dana White’s Contender Series, Azure debuted in the Octagon with a decision win over Brad Katona at UFC Fight Night 158 on Sept. 14. The former Legacy Fighting Alliance talent is 8-0 over the course of his career, with three victories by KO/TKO and one via submission.
