Undefeated Russian Vladimir Tokov (4-0) will take on Brandon Hastings (6-3) at Bellator 229, sources told Sherdog.com. The lightweight bout will take place on prelims, and the event will take place on Oct. 4 at the Pechanga Resort & Casino in Temecula, California. Tokov is the younger brother of Bellator middleweight contender Anatoly Tokov.
"Vova" is coming off of a decision win over Ryan Walker at Bellator 218 in his promotional debut. Before that, he beat Evgeniy Plaksin by decision, tapped Armen Malkhasyan and knocked out Evgeniy Skakun.
Hastings returned to the cage after a nearly 27-month layoff at LFA 69, where he forced the doctor to intervene against Jose Campos. Before that, he faced and lost to current Bellator featherweight title challenger Juan Archuleta at KOTC: Supernova in 2017. "The White Tiger" competed at featherweight for the majority of his career, although his appearance against Campos came at lightweight. All six of the American's wins have come by stoppage.
Bellator 229 will be headlined by a welterweight bout between Lorenz Larkin vs. Andrey Koreshkov.
