Francis Ngannou recently returned to Cameroon for the first time since winning the UFC heavyweight championship, and he was greeted with a hero’s welcome.
“The Predator” arrived in his home country to a rowdy reception as he put the belt on his mother and then drove through the streets of Douala for a championship parade as thousands celebrated his victory.
Ngannou claimed heavyweight gold with a second-round knockout of Stipe Miocic at UFC 260 on March 27. The 34-year-old was in talks to face former 205-pound king Jon Jones for his first title defense, but those negotiations have stalled. Now, a rematch with Derrick Lewis appears to have been targeted for a future event.
