Fans who attended UFC Mexico City were frustrated with the outcome of the main event between Jeremy Stephens and Yair Rodriguez, and their trash-throwing tantrum afterwards had play-by-play man Brendan Fitzgerald seeking shelter.

The fight was called off after “Lil Heathen” was hit in the left eye by Rodriguez’s fingers and unable to continue after a five-minute rest period. The hometown fans were incensed by the decision to stop the fight and protested by throwing whatever they could towards the Octagon and Stephens before the American was quickly ushered out of the cage.

Some of the objects started to hit the UFC commentary team of Brendan Fitzgerald and Michael Bisping which led Fitzgerald to seek shelter under their commentary desk. To Fitzgerald’s credit, he continued commentating under the table while it was happening. Video of the incident, filed by Bisping -- who did not join his broadcast partner under the table -- has been doing the rounds on social media.
