WSOF 29 Gets Josh Copeland-Mike Hayes Co-Headliner, 2 Other Main Card Bouts

The now-complete World Series of Fighting 29 main card will include a heavyweight showdown between Josh Copeland and Mike Hayes in the co-main event.

Promotion officials announced the matchup on Wednesday. Two other bouts were revealed to fill out the March 12 event’s main draw, as Cory Devela will meet Louis Taylor at middleweight, while Josh Cavan will face Kris Hocum at welterweight.

WSOF 29 takes place at Bank of Colorado Arena in Greeley, Colo., and is headlined by a lightweight championship clash between Justin Gaethje and Brian Foster. The card airs on NBC Sports Network at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT.

Copeland, who went 0-2 during a brief UFC stint, has won two of his last three bouts since exiting the Las Vegas-based promotion. Most recently, he suffered a second-round submission loss to reigning Bellator heavyweight king Vitaly Minakov at Fight Nights Moscow on Dec. 11.

Hayes is a well traveled veteran who has competed for Strikeforce, Cage Warriors Fighting Championship, Bellator and KSW over the course of his 31-fight professional tenure. He enters the matchup with Copeland having won just once in his last eight outings, a head kick knockout of Jeff Monson in November 2013.
