Andrews Nakahara vs. Emmanuel Walo

Round 1

Nakahara in a loose karate stance begins the 175-pound contest by testing Walo's legs and ribs with kicks, but Walo keenly works his jab, then tags Nakahara with a right hook counter. Nakahara lands two hard low kicks that Walo can't block fully, then Walo lands a counter jab. Nakahara continues to attack Walo's lead left leg, which leads to Walo switching to southpaw briefly. A very low cut kick stumbles Walo up momentarily, then Nakahara touches him with a left hook. Walo chases Nakahara across the cage to land a hard left hook of his own, then shoots, but Nakahara defends and they come together with over-unders. They break. Two more hard low kicks land for Nakahara, then with time ticking down, the karateka tries a Peter Graham style Rolling Thunder kick.

Nakahara flurries on him, but Walo gets to a body lock and we're clinched. Walo pulls then pushes, running Nakahara to the mat with a clever inside trip, but the Brazilian-Japanese fighter pops right back up. Nakahara disengages, then unfurls a spinning hook kick that hits Walo's guard. A Superman punch for for Nakahara glances its target. Walo clinches up again and Nakahara indulges him, going for a single-leg takedown of his own. It goes nowhere and the bell ends the frame.

Lots of feinting from both fighters, but not much attacking. Walo continues switching stances and from orthodox, lands a stray low kick that clips Nakahara's cup, prompting a short break from referee David Bruce. Walo not using his feet, reaching with long, swiping hooks that Nakahara avoids. Clean right cross for Nakahara, but as he lands, Walo tags him with a harder right hook, then moments later, a clean overhand right. With time winding down, Nakahara leaps into a corkscrew kick but is nowhere near Walo. Bell.

They come together in a clinch and battle along the fence, kneeing one another in the body. “Capitao” tries to change levels for a takedown, but Rodriguez controls him with underhooks and keeps landing idle knees to the body until referee Bryan Miner separates them. Almeida misses with a big pair of hooks, they clinch again, but the Brazilian launches Rodriguez with a hip throw, then scrambles to take the Costa Rican's back with just over 90 seconds left in the row. “Capitao” locks in a body triangle and pressures for a rear-naked choke while Rodriguez fights his hands. Almeida can't quite sink his choking arm under the chin, so he aggressively crossfaces Rodriguez.

Islam Mamedov vs. Natan Schulte

Round 1

Tentative opening minute as Schulte tries to gauge the range by lobbing some mild low kicks, while Mamedov plays on the outside looking to counter. Mamedov explodes into a flying knee that glances Schulte, then clinches and lands another sharp one. A spinning back kick from the Dagestani fighter misses. Both lightweights stick their jabs out, but can't break the other's guard. When Schulte tries to step inside and land a right kick to the body, Mamedov dings him with two quick punches. Another spinning back kick that's nowhere near Schulte. Short counter right for Mamedov lands, so Schulte clinches and tries unsuccessfully to wrestle him off of his feet.

Sherdog Scores

Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Mamedov
Jeff Miller scores the round 10-9 Mamedov

Round 2

Mamedov remains patient, feinting and watching Schulte from just outside of the cage's center. Clean left hand lands for Mamedov. He shoots a single on “Russo” and gets him down and as the Brazilian tries to scramble away, Mamedov gets a rear waistlock, elevates and slams him down. Mamedov quickly moves into full mount and holds the position as Schulte tries to kick off the fence to reverse him. Mamedov is workmanlike, reaffirming his position while landing accurate elbows and short flurries of punches. Schulte keeps moving and shrimping until he's free from mount, but he ends up eating more punishment as he grapevines Mamedov's leg and looks for a leglock briefly. Mamedov gets back on top, punching the whole way, moving back into side control, then back into full mount. Schulte escapes and they scramble up in a clinch, where the American Top Team fighter tries to launch his foe. Schulte can't get Mamedov down, but as he holds the whizzer, he tries to dive over the top for an armbar, a la Dustin Hazelett on Josh Burkman. He ends up on his back, where Mamedov casually walks into full mount for the third time, then quickly snatches an armbar of his own. With just seconds left in the round, Mamedov gets the tap.

The Official Result

Islam Mamedov def. Natan Schulte via Submission (Armbar) R2 4:56

Hakeem Dawodu vs. Steven Siler

Round 1

Dawodu aggressively stalks Siler back to the fence, but it's the UFC veteran who lands the first good lick, snapping the advancing Dawodu's head back with a short right. Dawodu turns around and puts Siler on his seat with a massive spinning back kick, but Siler doesn't seem particularly hurt to the body and is up quickly. Dawodu keeps walking his man down as Siler tries to explode forward with more counter rights. Next time Siler steps forward, Dawodu stands him up with two quick hooks, then shuts down a Siler takedown. The Utah native runs into another clinch and can't get Dawodu on the mat clean, but he does get him to his knees. From the turtle, Siler quickly sinks his hooks, takes the back and switches to a body triangle. It's the halfway mark of the first round. Dawodu just explodes and bridges, hardly technical defense, but he manages to break the body triangle and get to his feet. Spinning back kick from Dawodu misses, then Siler tags him with a right hand. Then Siler rips him back. Then Dawodu rips him back. Both men are just loading up on big right hands and aiming for the chin late in round one, but it's Dawodu with the harder shots, stumbling Siler up. With just over 30 to go, Siler changes levels, runs Dawodu to the mat and jumps into back control once more, but can't get much going before the round.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Dawodu
Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Dawodu

Round 2

Dawodu still pressing, but Siler is unafraid, hands down, using head movement to try to set up counters. Dawodu steps inside behind his jab and lands a heavy body shot that has Siler hurt, prompting a sloppy shot that Dawodu defends, taking top position for himself and working from Siler's full guard. Dawodu swings a wild right into Siler's guard that misses allowing “Super” to scramble up. Another left hook to the body lands for Dawodu when Siler charges in. An ugly shot attempt from Siler is easily shrugged off. Siler continues to charge into the clinch, hoping for takedowns, but Dawodu is doing a better job defending now. Left hook to the body lands for the Calgary fighter again, then he bops Siler with a right hook upstairs behind it. The pair clinch along the fence briefly, but Dawodu disengages. Siler's nose is bloodied up now. Hard outside low kick, then a spinning back for Dawodu. Siler runs into another fruitless clinch before the bell.

Round 3

Another two hard rights for Dawodu land on Siler's bloodied face, then he easily stuffs another Siler takedown attempt, settling on top in his guard for a moment. Siler tries to look for deep half guard briefly, but nearly winds up giving up full mount. Siler grapevines Dawodu's head and trips down, hoping for a kneebar, but Dawodu's leg is already out of danger, so Dawodu casually sits down on the mat, hammerfists Siler, then does a back somersault to scramble to his feet. Siler runs into another clinch, only to eat hard knees to the body and another right hand. Two minutes left and an exhausted Siler tries to pull guard from the clinch. He falls to his back, but Dawodu sits up in half guard and resumes punching him in the face. A salvo of clean left hands smack Siler in the face. “Super” tries to scramble to his feet but he just doesn't have the energy at this point. Fortunately for him, Dawodu stands up and lets him stand. With 40 seconds to go, Siler manages to tackle Dawodu to the mat and nearly winds up armbarring him in the ensuing scramble, but Dawodu escapes, pounds Siler to the body, steps over his head and looks for a kimura at the final bell.

Bill Jones vs. Tom Marcellino

Round 1

Jones changes stances, his chin high in the air, trying to jump into a clinch and grab Marcellino's neck, but Marcellino backs him up with jabs and short hooks. Jones runs and leaps at Marcellino with a flying head kick but whiffs. Jones keeps up his active attack, eventually tackling Marcellino to the mat, tripping the outside leg. Jones nearly takes the back, but winds up getting swept and conceding top position and side control to Marcellino. Marcellino grabs a guillotine and pulls guard, but it's loose and Jones escapes, taking Marcellino's back with both hooks this time just past the halfway mark of the round. Jones throws his left arm up from back control over Marcellino's right arm to trap it, a la B.J. Penn. Jones pressuring the neck of Marcellino but can't get his choking arm deep enough. Marcellino frees himself and winds up on top with 90 seconds to go. Jones gets a two-on-one to restrain his foe, allowing him to get to his feet, then runs right back into the clinch, pressing Marcellino to the fence. Jones rolls forward into another guillotine attempt from Marcellino, who jumps guard again, gives up top position, then finds Jones on his back again. Marcellino shakes his hooks and sweeps back to top in Jones' full guard. Both men are obviously tired adn taking a bit of a breather. Both men are obviously tired. Jones doesn't have much to offer off of his back other than adjusting guard, while Marcellino is content to sit in guard or half guard, chipping away with punches and maintaining his position. Referee Kevin MacDonald grows weary of the slowing bout, putting the men back on their feet. At this point, Jones is too tired to stave off Marcellino, who comes in behind punches and puts Jones on the mat again. Once again, not much offense apart from short punches. Jones scrambles up to his feet before the bell, but it's too little too late.

After a warning, the action quickly resumes and the combatants trade low kicks. Nurmagomedov lands a heavy left that knocks Secor off balance and Nurmagomedov follows him down to the canvas, flurrying on top. Secor gets his hips and legs up and throws up a decent triangle attempt, but the Dagestani fighter powers through it. Secor remains aggressive in his pursuit of a submission, twisting for a grapevine on Nurmagomedov's leg and looking for a heel hook, but again, Nurmagomedov escapes and takes top position in half guard, elbowing away. Secor regains his feet late but is immediately hit with a hard right hand from Nurmagomedov. Secor has a strange, delayed reaction, stepping away on rubbery legs. Back on the feet, Nurmagomedov looks for knees on a flailing Secor, but his opponent pulls guard as soon as he gets ahold of him. Nurmagomedov sets up shop in half guard and peppers Secor with left hands. The American throws up another triangle attempt, but Nurmagomedov sits up and breaks his posture. With three minutes to go, Secor shoots a double from way outside and Nurmagomedov sprawls easily. Clean left cross for Nurmagomedov scores, then two left hooks ding Secor and drop him along the cage. Nurmagomedov just walks away and lets his spent opponent retake his feet. There's 90 seconds left and Secor is throwing right-handed fastballs, tryting to connect with something, anything.
