WSOF Canada ‘Ford vs. Powell’ Fight Card Now Complete with 12 Bouts

Twelve fights are now slated for the World Series of Fighting Canada’s next event , including a heavyweight showdown pitting former NCAA Division I wrestling champion Steve Mocco against Maximum Fighting Championship veteran Smealinho Rama.

“Ultimate Fighter 16” alum Michael Hill will also be in action, as he meets Ryan Dickson in a welterweight contest. The Feb. 21 event is headlined by a Canadian welterweight title clash between Ryan Ford and Joel Powell.

The show takes place at the Edmonton Expo Centre in Edmonton, Alberta, and will additionally feature a featherweight match pitting Josh Machan against Adam Lorenz. Just prior, the evening’s main card will kick off live on NBC Sports Network with a welterweight matchup featuring Brandt Dewsbery and Mark Drummond.

The evening’s undercard streams live and free on Sherdog.com and will see ex-Bellator talent Will Romero do battle with Lenny Wheeler in a featherweight duel. The preliminary draw will additionally feature a heavyweight clash pitting UFC alumnus Tim Hague against Lee Mein, as well as a 200-pound catch-weight bout between Matt Baker and Mike Kent.

Mocco, 32, has thus far been perfect as a mixed martial artist, scoring three of his four victories by way of submission. The onetime Olympian last competed on Nov 1, when he finished Alonzo Roane with a third-round arm-triangle choke.

In Rama, Mocco faces a 21-year-old coming off his first loss. The Canadian began his career with six consecutive victories but was knocked out in his Oct. 4 clash with Anthony Hamilton, who felled the prospect with a second-round high kick to win the vacant MFC heavyweight title.
