Vicente Luque will welcome Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series alum Jalin Turner to the Octagon at UFC 229.
The promotion announced the welterweight addition during the UFC Fight Night Sao Paulo broadcast on Saturday. UFC 229 takes place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Oct. 6 and is headlined by a lightweight championship clash between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor. Luque vs. Turner will air on the Fox Sports 1-televised portion of the preliminary card.
Luque, 26, has been victorious in six of his last seven Octagon appearances, finishing all of his wins inside of two rounds. Most recently, “The Silent Assassin” knocked out Chad Laprise 4:16 into the opening frame of their UFC Fight Night 129 clash on May 19.
Turner, meanwhile, earned a UFC deal with a doctor stoppage win against Max Mustaki during a Contender Series matchup on July 10. The 23-year-old has won five of his last six pro fights — including two under the Bellator banner — with all of those victories ending inside of a round.
