Zach Juusola Injured; Moises Steps in Against Castillo at Friday’s RFA 35

Resurrection Fighting Alliance on Tuesday announced that headliner Zach Juusola has been forced to withdraw from Friday’s RFA 35 card due to an injury suffered in training.

Stepping up on less than one weeks’ notice to face David Castillo will be Thiago Moises. The rest of the RFA 35 card will remain intact, according to officials. The action will be televised live on AXS TV beginning at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT.

Moises was slated to face David Putvin in the evening’s co-featured bout, but in an effort to save the card, the Brazilian opted to face Castillo for the promotion’s lightweight title. With the switch, Thiago Alves Cavalcante Rodrigues will now take on Putvin in a 160-pound catchweight bout.

Moises is coming off an impressive victory over Javon Wright at RFA 28 where he submitted his foe via rear-naked choke in the second. Castillo, meanwhile, bounced back from two consecutive losses by edging Aaron Sutton with a unanimous decision at a regional show in December.
