The Ultimate Fighting Championship’s parent company and video game producer Ubisoft today jointly announced the dissolution of a lawsuit filed by Zuffa in December.
As owners of the trademark, Zuffa alleged in its claim that Ubisoft's use of the term confused consumers and created a connection between the UFC and the underground fighting depicted in the game, tarnishing Zuffa's reputation and hurting it as a business.
To resolve the dispute, Ubisoft has ceased selling copies of “Fighters Uncaged” that feature the words on the back cover and has changed the game's packaging so that the trademarked phrase no longer appears.
