“We are excited to combine my great first love, boxing, with MMA at Terrible’s Primm Valley Casino Resorts,” said president of Worlds Collide Fights, LLC and boxing world champion Fernando Vargas. “Together with my partners, we look forward to putting on many more exciting nights merging the two sports.”

The dual sport concept will showcase three weight categories at 130, 160 and 200 pounds, featuring eight professional boxers and eight professional mixed martial arts fighters in each of three weight divisions in a “winner takes all” tournament format. The six Worlds Collide champions will win a total of $10,000 in prize money, with winners in the quarterfinals winning $2,000, winners in the semi-finals receiving $3,000 and the six Worlds Collide champions will each win $5,000. The quarterfinals are scheduled for Feb. 14, April 18 and June 20 and will feature four boxing and four MMA quarterfinal bouts on each date. Winners will then advance to the semi-finals on Aug. 22 and Oct. 17 with finalist competing in the Worlds Collide Championship on Dec. 5, 2009. Only fighters with 10 or fewer pro fights and a winning record are eligible to fight in the Worlds Collide Tournament. Interested fighters who qualify and are interested in being selected should contact Roy Englebrecht at [email protected] or 949.760.3131. All competitors in Worlds Collide will be announced in mid January.

“It is a concept geared toward young and exciting boxers and MMA fighters trying to establish themselves,” said Englebrecht. “Each of the Worlds Collide shows will feature some of the most talented young fighters in boxing and mixed martial arts from Nevada and California, who will give fight fans nonstop action each and every bout, as these young warriors look to make a name for themselves, giving everything they have in pursuit of the coveted Worlds Collide bracelet. That’s why No Fame – No Fortune – No Fear – All Fight, is what Worlds Collide is all about!”
