XFC 25: Eggink and Magana Fued Reaches Boiling Point; Title On The Line In Main Event

(PRESS RELEASE) -- September 6th is LADIES NIGHT! For the first time ever, Xtreme Fighting Championships will showcase two of their top females in the evening’s Main Event, when Stephanie Eggink meets Angela Magana for the undisputed XFC Women’s Strawweight Title, at XFC 25: Boiling Point. The five round championship bout will take place LIVE on AXS TV, from the Albuquerque Convention Center, in beautiful Albuquerque New Mexico.

In late 2012, South Dakota’s Stephanie Eggink (3-1, 2-0 XFC) signed a long term, multi-fight, deal with the XFC. Upon signing, the former member of the U.S. National Boxing Team made one thing clear…she was here for championship gold. However, coming in to the promotion after a devastating, and surprising, knockout loss to Kaline Medeiros, Stephanie knew that she would have to prove to the XFC, and their fans, that she was worthy of such a bout. Looking to make some noise early, the Snowflake accepted a dangerous promotional debut bout with, then 5-2, Heather Clark. At that time, Clark was sitting atop the division and anxiously waited for the XFC to announce plans for the inaugural 115lb title. From start to finish, Eggink displayed a higher level of skill in every aspect of her fight with Clark. With superior stand up and jiu-jitsu, Stephanie not only won a unanimous decision, she took Heather Clark’s spot as the company’s number one Strawweight. (Watch the fight video here) In February of 2013, the Championship bout was made; Stephanie Eggink was to take on Angela Magana at XFC 23 in Louisville, Kentucky.

Angela Magana (11-5) is a true veteran in women’s mixed martial arts. Fighting professionally since 2007, Magana has not only fought the best, she has beaten some of the top names in the sport. With high profile wins over Jessica Aguilar and Barb Honchak, Angela Magana entered the XFC with the credentials to walk right into title contention. With six wins coming by way of submission, the feisty grappler looked poised to win her first title, when she was booked against relative new comer Stephanie Eggink. But, in an unfortunate set of circumstances, Magana had to withdraw from the bout after suffering a severe concussion in a car accident. The title bout was put on hold and Magana was promptly replaced by Brianna Van Buren. While Eggink’s focus should have shifted to Van Buren, a war of words ensued between Stephanie Eggink and Angela Magana that took the future bout from a competitive contest, to a personal grudge match. While Eggink questioned the validity of Magana’s car accident, Angela went straight for the jugular, attacking details of Stephanie’s personal life and relationships.

The time for talk is now over. The women have put ink to paper, and the XFC fans will finally get the match up they have been anxiously waiting for. Will Angela Magana be presented the belt she has already claimed ownership of, or will Stephanie Eggink show her that possession is 9/10th of the law? No matter which way you see it, both women know that finishing their opponent on September 6th will make it 100% official. The winner will go down in history as the 1st XFC Women’s Stawweight Champion.

President and match maker of the XFC, John Prisco, expressed his excitement for his September Main Event: “This is huge for us. For years, the XFC has been at the forefront of women’s mixed martial arts, and through superb scouting, we’ve built a strong enough women’s division to finally have the ladies take center stage. We have supported women in the sport when others wouldn’t, and we are extremely proud to have Stephanie and Angela headline a XFC card for the first time in our history. This bout is truly Main Event worthy, but what makes this fight exciting is, not only do we have two of the best females in the business fighting for championship gold; we have two ladies that 100% do not like each other. Their bad blood is not just to sell a fight or promote the card; these two genuinely do not care for one another. Emotions are going to be high for this one. A huge factor in the outcome, is going to be who can use, yet control, their emotions to their advantage. I have no doubt in my mind that these two will deliver on September 6th.

Xtreme Fighting Championships heads to Albuquerque, New Mexico for XFC 25: Boiling Point on September 6, 2013. The event is presented by ICRealTime Security Solutions, Polanti Watches, and Throat Punch Industries Apparel. The event will be broadcast Live on AXS TV from the Albuquerque Convention Center, beginning at 9pm Eastern. For more information on the event or to purchase tickets, visit www.officialxfc.com.
