By besting a former title challenger, Viviane Araujo kept her head above water in a competitive women’s flyweight division.

Araujo grinded out a hard-fought three-round verdict against Jennifer Maia in the UFC Fight Night 230 co-main event on Saturday, ending a two-fight skid in the process. With the win, Araujo switches places with her vanquished foe and takes over the 13th spot in Sherdog’s latest 125-pound poll.

Elsewhere, Jonathan Martinez leg kicked Adrian Yanez into oblivion for a second-round technical knockout victory in a bantamweight feature on the UFC Fight Night 230 bill. That makes six consecutive triumphs — five at 135 pounds — for the Factory X product, which allows him to enter the divisional poll at No. 15.

Meanwhile, with her last featherweight bout taking place in March 2021, Amanda Nunes’ eligibility at 145 pounds has long since expired. That means the recently retired “Lioness” exits the featherweight poll and allows Cristiane Justino to regain the top spot she held for years before being upset by Nunes in December 2018. If Nunes hasn’t made a comeback by June, she’ll exit the bantamweight rankings, as well. As it stands, PFL featherweight finalist Marina Mokhnatkina is another beneficiary of the featherweight shakeup, as she joins the bubble at No. 14 ahead of her showdown against Larissa Pacheco on Nov. 24.
