Matheus Scheffel Says ‘Everything’ is Going to be Different in His Rematch with Ante Delija

Matheus Scheffel hopes to show off a new and improved version of himself in the Professional Fighters League 2022 finals. Scheffel will lock horns with Ante Delija in a heavyweight championship affair on Nov. 25. It will be the second time the pair have collided after their first encounter in April, when Delija stopped his opponent with punches in the second frame. After that clash, Scheffel bounced back with an unexpected victory over 2021 PFL champion Bruno Cappelozza before smashing Juan Adams and punching his ticket to the finals. When asked what was going to be different from the first time he met Delija, Scheffel answered that he had made a few adjustments since that April fight.

“Everything is going to be different. Ante was the first real heavyweight fight of my life. I was moving in the fight like I’m a light heavyweight, looking for just one punch but it didn’t work. I lost my fight in the Contender Series last year, and then I lost my first fight here in PFL. I needed to make some changes in my camp because if I'm losing something and I keeping doing the same things, I can’t have a different result. I changed some coaches, my stand-up fight coach, and my strength and condition trainer. I changed some things. In my fight against Bruno, I think I proved to everybody that the changes I did worked. I proved that I deserved it there. I’ll have the chance to make my revenge against Ante. He’s a nice guy, but this time it will be totally different. I'm a new guy, a new fighter. I'm a new heavyweight fighter, and I’m totally different.”
