Randy Couture Looking Forward to Watching Welterweights on PFL Challenger Series

Mixed martial arts icon Randy Couture will pay great attention to the 2023’s Professional Fighters League Challenger Series opener.

It has been a while since Couture has competed in an official fight, but a day doesn’t pass without him getting some MMA action. “The Natural” is currently working with the Professional Fighters League, where he will participate in the celebrity panel to judge the Challenger Series contestants. The former Ultimate Fighting Championship heavyweight and light heavyweight titleholder has already taken part in the experience last year and is pretty sure the 170 pounders will give the fans a reason to stick in front of the television. After all, Dilano Taylor — a Challenger Series winner — went as far as the finals in the 2022 PFL Regular Season, even though he had to swim in an ocean full of sharks.

“I think it's gonna be interesting to see the new two women's weight classes, the featherweights and the lightweights. Obviously, the welterweights are this Friday. That's one of the deepest and toughest divisions in the PFL. Any of those guys coming out of the Challenger Series — obviously Dilano Taylor did that last season in that division — they better be ready ‘cause there's some stone-cold killers in that weight class for sure. Traditionally, if you've been paying attention to the PFL and you've got guys like Sadibou Sy, Magomed Magomedkerimov, Ray Cooper III, that division is stacked with really, really talented guys. Dilano Taylor is gonna be in that mix again, he's gonna be back as a finalist from last season. It's always a fun weight class. They split the difference between that speed of the smaller guys and the power of the bigger guys. It's a great weight class.”
