Amir Khan: ‘I Have to Go Back to My Killer Instinct’
In November, Singapore native Amir Khan bounced back from the most difficult period of his professional fighting career. With his split-decision win over Ev Ting, he had righted the ship after the first losing streak -- three fights -- and knockout of his career. Yet he was not satisfied with his performance that night. With his confidence renewed, but dissatisfied with his recent showings, he has a specific mandate for 2020. Which starts at home, inside the Singapore Indoor Stadium, at One Championship: King of the Jungle.
“In 2020, I vowed to myself [that] I have to go back to my finishing ways,” Khan told Sherdog. “I have to go back to my killer instinct and go there and try to put [Kimihiro Eto] out. That’s my goal in 2020. I’m not going to try to face a particular opponent, but just get back to that zone. That killer instinct mindset.”
In this exclusive video interview for Sherdog, the lightweight star spoke about his bounce back win over Ting, how his confidence was shaken heading into the fight and why he feels he lacked a killer instinct in the bout. Khan then spoke about coronavirus fears in the Singapore, and the ‘King of the Jungle’ event being changed to an event without fans and media in attendance, because of it.
