Tyson Nam did not have the Ultimate Fighting Championship debut he envisioned after a 13-year wait. With the pressure on to avoid a losing streak to begin his run under the UFC banner, the Hawaiian has designs on showcasing his power punching prowess at UFC Fight Night 168, where he will face Kai Kara-France on Saturday in Auckland, New Zealand.
“I think the biggest thing I bring to the table is I’m the biggest power puncher in the weight class,” Nam told Sherdog.com “Nobody is going to be starching people with the one-strike knockouts that I’ve been doing for so long. Even when I was at 135 pounds, I was putting fools to sleep, so [with] me dropping down to the flyweight division, I consider myself the biggest puncher in the division. If I can set him right in front of me and we’re winging shots back and forth, I love my chances. He can hit hard. I feel like I can always hit harder.”
In this exclusive interview with Sherdog.com, Nam discusses his failed UFC debut, the long flight to New Zealand and his funny social media posts using the “Lawn Mower” clippers from Manscaped. He also touched on his bromance with current UFC bantamweight and longtime training partner Ricky Simon.
