Aung La N Sang: Defying Doubters with Dominance
It may seem as though Aung La N Sang does not have much left to prove at this stage of his career. The One Championship mainstay holds titles in two divisions and has successfully defended both of them. He has also headlined eight events for the promotion and even scored an impressive technical knockout against heavyweight champion Brandon Vera in defense of his light heavyweight crown. Despite all his success, N Sang still finds motivating in defying doubters.
“I want to be dominant. I want to go on a long streak of dominance. I want all those contenders lined up and to be the best version of myself,” N Sang told Sherdog.com. “That’s a career goal. Everything that I’ve done is almost like a fluke. People are going to say, ‘Ah, he got lucky.’ I don’t want that. I want to show dominance in the striking department [while] making sure I look bulletproof on my takedown defense to become the best version of myself and entertain the fans.”
In this exclusive interview with Sherdog, the 35-year-old offered his thoughts on why a trilogy fight with Vitaly Bigdash makes the most sense for him, provided his opinion on reports regarding One Championship’s financial issues and discussed the forthcoming Ultimate Fighting Championship welterweight title bout between his Hard Knocks 365 teammates Gilbert Burns and Kamaru Usman.
