Following the cancellation of Season 3 due to the on-going COVID-19 global pandemic, Professional Fighters League events have been placed on hold until 2021. While they may not be putting on fights, the organization has kept busy when it comes to producing new content. At the forefront of that initiative has been cage announcer Lilian Garcia. The former long-time ring voice for World Wrestling Entertainment has taken on several new roles in recent months, including hosting the new YouTube series “Prep Point,” a show Garcia aims to make different than usual mixed martial arts interviews and even her popular podcast “Chasing Glory.”

“I had already interviewed Randy Couture, Lance Palmer [and] John Howard. I interviewed these fighters and got these fascinating stories. And I was like, what if we do something like that and get people to know who [these fighters] are before they step into the cage in 2021. [PFL] loved the concept,” Garcia told Sherdog. “It’s different than Chasing Glory. It’s funny, I have what we call ‘speed-not speed round’ for Chasing Glory and it’s ‘hot seat’ on Prep Point. But it’s just these random questions that we threw to the fighters to see what they would say, and it brings a lot of their personality out. Which has been a lot of fun. And it’s definitely a shorter format than Chasing Glory. It’s been fun to get to know these stories. And now, before they step into the cage in 2021 I can remember this interview, and remember some of their stories, so I’m a little bit more invested into their fights.”

Along with explaining the format of her new series, Garcia also talked about taking on a greater role with the PFL, feeling valued by her bosses at the league and how she developed the interview skills that landed her this latest gig.
