A victory in the Professional Fighters League finals might help Steven Ray improve the gym where he first developed as a mixed martial artist. Ray (25-10, 2-1 PFL) will take on Olivier Aubin-Mercier on Nov. 25 for the 2022 155-pound championship and the $1 million prize. Ray's path to the finals started uphill after he dropped a decision to Alex Martinez in April. The Scottish fighter bounced back with a twister submission over former UFC champ Anthony Pettis in June before defeating him by decision in their semifinal rematch. Now, "Braveheart" believes his moment to shine has come. Once he dispatches Aubin-Mercier, Ray aims to spend part of the money on improving his local gym, Braveheart MMA, by getting showers and heating.
