Still Rollin’

After decades of being entrenched in the world of combat sports, Burt Watson keeps finding new things to do.

As the longtime event coordinator for the Ultimate Fighting Championship, Watson was introduced to mixed martial arts and helped the organization in its worldwide expansion while becoming an integral part of the busy Zuffa machine. Watson, whose resume includes a managerial stint with boxing legend and fellow Philadelphia native Joe Frazier, infamously left the promotion citing a heated exchange with an unnamed UFC employee.

Watson’s departure from the UFC did not mean he left the sport altogether. This Saturday evening, his own promotion MMA Live will hold its inaugural event at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida. Watson sat down exclusively with Sherdog.com to discuss the latest chapter in his journey in the fight game and what keeps him motivated after all these years.
