Kimboslayer Returns Aug. 22

Brian KnappJul 13, 2009
Seth Petruzelli, forever known as the man who took down Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson, will meet International Fight League veteran Chris Baten at Art of Fighting “Damage” on Aug. 22 at the USF Sun Dome in Tampa, Fla.

Petruzelli (10-4) has not competed since he bounced Slice on a first-round technical knockout at EliteXC “Heat” in October. The 29-year-old will carry a two-fight winning streak into his match with Baten. A UFC and World Extreme Cagefighting veteran, Petruzelli lost to Wilson Gouveia and Matt Hamill inside the Octagon. In addition to his victory against Slice, he also holds a win against UFC hall of famer Dan Severn.

Baten (5-4) fought in May 2008 and dropped a decision to TJ Cook at Real Fighting Championships 12. He has also competed inside the Ultimate Warrior Challenge promotion, where he stopped former Green Bay Packers running back Herbert Goodman on second-round strikes.

A heavyweight match between UFC veterans Marcio Cruz and Tom Sauer will headline the event. A Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt, Cruz (5-2) has rattled off three wins in a row since his knockout loss to Andrei Arlovski at UFC 66. Sauer (21-11) -- who has victories against Jeff Monson, Valentijn Overeem and Enson Inoue on his resume -- has battled Tourette syndrome throughout his life.
